Overseer Zane is a hostile NPC in New World that players will be instructed to defeat on several occasions. While this instruction is fairly straightforward, actually performing the task can prove to be quite tricky. Indeed, some New World fans will undoubtedly find that it is very difficult to get credit for dispatching the relevant foe, and this guide is here to provide a recommendation for how to proceed.
Before getting into that recommendation, though, it may be worth offering some clarity on what must be done in order to finish the “defeat Overseer Zane” quest step. Quite simply, a certain amount of damage must be dealt to the foe to cause the step to be marked as complete. This means that hitting Overseer Zane in New World once or twice will not be enough to make progress, and herein lies the issue that many fans are likely to be facing.
How to Defeat Overseer Zane in New World
With that established, the first step toward defeating Overseer Zane is to find him. Fortunately, that is quite an easy thing to do, as this NPC is always located in Ebonrock Cavern. For full clarity, that location is near the Shadowmine in northern Everfall, and there should be a waypoint for players to follow on the map in New World.
Upon arriving at Ebonrock Cavern, fans should make their way as far in as possible, and they will almost certainly find many other players gathered in the area. These players will all be looking to snag a kill on Overseer Zane as well, and the best bet is to try to form a full group with them. Creating a party in New World makes it much easier to get credit for defeating the foe, as everyone in a group will complete the quest step even if just one member deals the requisite amount of damage.
That said, while using this strategy should improve the situation with Overseer Zane somewhat, it will not fix things altogether. The NPC’s fairy-long respawn time combined with the sheer number of players that need to slay him means that fans will need to exercise quite a lot of patience here, regardless of if they have a group or not. Perhaps New World’s developer will address this down the line, by decreasing the spawn time or making it so that tagging the enemy gives credit, but for now fans should simply make a group and cross their fingers.
