New World is one of the newest MMORPGs on the market. With many checking out the title, such as popular Twitch streamer Shroud, the game has remained mainstream since its launch at the end of September. Despite this popularity within the MMO community, many players have faced a number of glitches.

One of these issues involved a gold dupe exploit uncovered by players. Through using this glitch, players could make more gold through an unintended bug with the Trading Post. As a result of this problem, Amazon Games Studios, the developer of New World, promised to ban players found using the exploit. Nevertheless, the issue became so prevalent that the developer decided to disable Trading Posts until the problem with the glitch was resolved.

Unfortunately, it seems in the interim since closing Trading Posts, some players have discovered a new version of the dreaded gold dupe exploit. A user on Reddit known as xAleksas posted their findings on the New World Subreddit. According to the user, beginning a town upgrade does not take gold from the player, and the upgrade fails to start. However, reconnecting to the game adds the cost of the upgrade to the company wallet. “I am at [a] loss of words,” the frustrated player said.

This new exploit has no doubt caught the attention of the New World community. With over 5,100 upvotes and hundreds of comments, it seems that this exploit is real. One frustrated user commented how this situation has made the New World economy seem pointless. “I spent my entire time playing this game being involved in the economy.… my time is completely wasted.” However, some other players are attempting to forget the economy even exists. “I'm just out in the wilderness questing, pretending everything is fine,” another gamer commented.

Amazon Games Studios has yet to comment on this most recent exploit found by players. However, the company recently commented on how they were combating the first gold dupe exploit. According to a Community Manager at the studio, the developers plan to examine how the glitch is being used. It’s probable that this investigation now includes this new gold glitch as well.

This is a big deal for the company, as Trading Posts provide players with the means to purchase all sorts of items, such as weapons. In addition to Trading Posts, transfers involving currency, guild treasury, and player-to-player trading have been disabled. The developer noted that it will update players once gold transfers are enabled again.

It will be interesting to see how Amazon Games Studios addresses this new version of the gold dupe exploit in New World. Unfortunately for those wanting to get back to trading, it seems that this new glitch could keep Trading Posts out of commission for a while longer.
