New World is the hot new MMORPG of the moment, created by Amazon Games and released out into the wild. New World is on top of Steam's chart of most played games as everyone wants to take a look at what this new, ambitious title has to offer.

While many have praise for New World and are enjoying its gameplay, there are also some problems. Massive queue times are first and foremost, with other issues like grinding cropping up as well. But what has some players really annoyed is something much smaller, concerning the game's cosmetics and how they are failing.

New World's gear displays a prominent problem: clipping. Gear tends to clip into other pieces of gear, causing overlap that looks ridiculous and breaks immersion. Hats clip through hoods, hair clips through hats, and robes clip through just about anything. It's one of the oldest video game visual bugs and it's still a poroblem these days. A newly forged Azoth Staff looks awesome and intimidating right up until the point where it clips through the other weapon attached to a player's back.

The staff point is pretty pertinent because this clipping problem extends to gear as well. Weapons in New World clip into each other all the time, and players are already bothered by how it looks. This may not seem like a big deal, but one of the biggest draws of an MMORPG is creating the character a player wants to create, and appearance is a huge part of that. When a character looks how a player wants them to look after successfully obtaining tough to acquire gear, it's a huge moment of triumph. By contrast, that gear phasing into other pieces of equipment completely ruins the image.

What's worse is that this is not a problem players can fully solve on their own. Players are already getting creative in the game, like getting New World's mobs to kill fishing bots, but cosmetics are a problem they have no control over.

Other parts of New World also need some more polish, and if those problems more players would likely overlook the issue. But clearly, there are a few flaws in New World that need attention. Players are worried about queue times, grind, and PVP that may be too exclusive.

New World is available now on PC.
