Some eagle eyed Valorant fans believe they have puzzled out the next map to come to the game. This doesn't come by way of an official announcement or anything, but rather by cross-referencing gameplay footage shown of an unknown map to the map overview leaks that got out previously.

For those that haven't kept up with it, Valorant is adding a new agent, Reyna, and released a trailer to show her off. What many failed to notice is that the new agent was fighting on a new map, and by comparing the footage to leaked maps, users have determined that map was Ascent.

Riot Games has already confirmed that a new map will be joining Valorant once the game launches, and while this doesn't necessarily confirm that the new map will be Ascent, it seems to be very likely. It wouldn't make much sense to show the map and then not use it.

Ascent Map

Another instance of this map appearing was during the developer updates. By cross-referencing the mini-map shown during these developer updates with the leaked maps, it further confirms that the area involved was Ascent. With that in mind, it could theoretically be possible that the map is simply what the developers use when showcasing, testing, or revealing things, in which case it might not end up showing up at launch. There are plenty other maps that could be added in, so nothing is completely guaranteed as of yet.

Players that consider themselves especially spatially aware should rewatch the Reyna trailer and compare the scenes to the leaked map of Ascent. Analyzing it makes it clear that Reyna visits various locations such as Switch, Courtyard, and Anchor. There are of course some areas which aren't seen during the brief trailer, but the mini-map from the developer updates makes it clear that they were in Defender Spawn.

Luckily, players don't have long to wait, meaning speculation won't make a huge difference. Valorant officially releases on June 2nd, just two days from now, so fans will have a definite answer by then. If Ascent doesn't show up as the new map, that would raise some questions as to when it will be added, but it is sure to come sometime. At this point, it's a matter of when, not if.

Valorant releases on June 2nd for PC.
