A new trailer has dropped for the upcoming movie Sailor Moon Cosmos, which will be the latest in the Sailor Moon franchise remake. The trailer reveals some new characters that will be in the movie for the first time, along with a first listen to their voices. Full of action-packed sequences and good performances, the trailer has already garnered a lot of positive attention online.

The new Sailor Moon Cosmos trailer was released on the official Sailor Moon YouTube channel on January 31st, gaining almost 1000 comments and over 12,000 likes within the first 24 hours. And though the trailer is entirely in Japanese, the comments on the video are not. Fans are expressing their excitement for the upcoming films from all over the world in their native languages, showing how much Sailor Moon can unite people.

The trailer gives us our first look at Sailor Moon's final villain, Sailor Galaxia. It was only recently revealed that Galaxia would be voiced by Megumi Hayashibara, most famous for her role as Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion. The trailer also features the movie's theme song, "Tsuki no Hana," performed by Daoko.

Sailor Moon Cosmos is the final part of the Sailor Moon remake which began with Sailor Moon Crystal in 2014. While many fans were skeptical about the updated animation style and the prospect of their childhood series being remade, they were won over by the amazing delivery the anime actually brought to the screen. The three seasons of Crystal have all been well-received by fans nearly across the board.

Sailor Moon Crystal was followed by a two-part film called Sailor Moon Eternal in 2021. It was the first Sailor Moon movie to play in the cinema in 26 years, and was also positively received. Sailor Moon Crystal and Sailor Moon Eternal have set the bar high for Sailor Moon Cosmos, and fans are expecting a lot from the next two films.

Sailor Moon Cosmos will be a two-part film as well, being released on June 9 and June 30 in Japan, so fans do not have to wait long between parts. It will be an adaptation of the final manga arc of the genre-defining original anime, which first aired in the 1990s. Sailor Moon fans can rest assured that they will not drag out the story, either, as the trailer announced this as the "Final chapter of Sailor Moon" and "Sailor Moon's final battle."
