Rumors regarding a new Silent Hill game being developed by Sony Japan Studio continue to grow this week. The latest addition to the rumor answers an important question regarding the new game's connection to the Silent Hill franchise. According to the leaker, the new Silent Hill game will be a soft reboot of the franchise.

The leak comes once more from well-regarded Capcom leaker Dusk Golem, also known as Aesthetic Gamer. They responded to speculation regarding the new Silent Hill game being a reboot or potentially even a sequel. "Pretty much every person who may have knowledge on the title [says] this is a soft reboot," is their claim. While this is true for many games in the Silent Hill franchise, Dusk Golem says that, "they're going a bit further with it this time."

Dusk Golem doesn't have anything else to add, other than that the new game's name is said to be Silent Hill. That's not exactly an inspired title, but does add credence to the idea that it's a soft reboot. Though it's also just evidence of how far the Silent Hill franchise has fallen out of the gaming industry discourse.

For those unfamiliar with the background of this Silent Hill rumor, there's only a little bit more information to share. Konami was said to have reached out around two years ago, looking for a partner for Silent Hill. Sony took them up on the offer, assigning the Siren/Gravity Rush development team to the Silent Hill project. The Gravity Rush team being led by the director of the original Silent Hill game. It's all just a big rumor until officially announced, though, so it's worth taking with a grain of salt.

Silent Hill is currently unconfirmed and unannounced.
