In a couple of months from now, Capcom's long-awaited remake of the 1999 classic survival horror game Resident Evil 3 will be released on consoles and the PC. Immediately after the game's announcement at last year's State of Play presentation, Capcom confirmed that players who pre-purchase the game will receive a bonus DLC pack that will allow them to swap Jill and Carlos' default costumes to their counterparts from the original game.

Now, Best Buy is currently offering an additional bonus for the pre-order of Resident Evil 3 Remake. Apart from the Classic Costume DLC pack that is available from all retailers, Best Buy will also reward players with a free official Resident Evil 3 Steelbook Case. The Steelbook case is officially licensed by Capcom and provides a protective metal exterior and sports the game's artwork inside and out. The best part about Best Buy's Resident Evil 3 pre-order deal is that the Steelbook Case, which is valued at $19.99, is completely free and will not incur any additional cost from the player.

Unfortunately, Best Buy's deal for the pre-order of the game does not reduce the game's price, which is still at $59.99. However, players on the PC would be happy to know that Green Man Gaming is still offering a deep discount for Resident Evil 3 Remake, which is currently available at $47.33 or 21% off its original list price of $59.99. It is currently unclear how long Green Man Gaming's discount on Resident Evil 3's pre-order will last, so players interested in getting the game for the PC anyway should take advantage of the offer now while it's still available.

Meanwhile, Capcom confirmed recently that Resident Evil 3 will not be getting the unlockable mode from the original game called The Mercenaries. To the uninitiated, The Mercenaries featured timed gameplay that required players to get from one point to another while facing hordes of zombies, monsters, and the relentless Nemesis. The mini-game featured the UBCS soldiers Carlos Oliveria, Mikhail Viktor, and Nikolai Zinoviev. The Mercenaries will be replaced with the previously revealed 4-v-1 asymmetrical multiplayer game called Resident Evil Resistance.

As for the fate of the Resident Evil franchise in the future, Capcom still hasn't confirmed Resident Evil 8, which was rumored to be scrapped in 2016 and was just recently restarted last year. Several days ago, other rumors surfaced about the game which claimed that Resident Evil 8 will be in first-person, will see the return of Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield, and will introduce new enemy types in the game, which will reportedly include werewolf-like creatures.

Resident Evil 3 is scheduled to release on April 3, 2020, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
