Hard though it may be to believe, June 2011 — the month that brought us E3, inFamous 2, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and more — is nearly at an end. It may be going out with more of a whimper than a bang, but rest assured that plenty of great games are still on the way this Summer.

Following last week‘s bonanza of big new games, the most anticipated new releases this week are nearly all downloadable titles, headlined by the Call of Duty: Black Ops – Annihilation map pack on Xbox 360. Gamers can also look forward to the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition DLC and the PSN release of Beyond Good & Evil HD. Finally, it’s the second week in a row for marquee 3DS games, thanks to the imminent release of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.

Take a break from all that Summer sun and play some games! Have a look at the new releases for June 26 through July 2, 2011, broken out by platform and date.

The first of two Resident Evil titles announced for the 3DS (the other being the still-in-development Resident Evil: Revelations), Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D puts survival horror in the palm of your hands. Trailers suggest that Mercenaries 3D may be among the best looking titles on the system, but will the game’s endless waves of baddies keep players interested for the long haul? Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D releases June, 28, 2011, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.

With the November release date of Modern Warfare 3 looming on the horizon, Activision Blizzard is hurrying to release new content for Call of Duty: Black Ops before players move on to the next game. Annihilation is the third map pack for Black Ops, so by now players should know what to expect: four new multiplayer maps and a new Zombie mode level. A trailer for the DLC turned up last week offering a glimpse at the new maps, though I suspect Black Ops players won’t need much convincing before they decide to download the pack. The Call of Duty: Black Ops – Annihilation map pack will be available June 28, 2011, as a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360.

Beyond Good & Evil was all but universally hailed as a masterpiece upon its initial release nearly eight years ago, though the game’s retail performance can only be considered a disappointment. BG&E mastermind Michel Ancel has, for now, focused his attention on the gorgeous Rayman: Origins rather than Beyond Good & Evil 2, but that is no reason to miss out on this lovingly produced HD update of an incredible game. Beyond Good & Evil HD comes to PSN June 28, 2011.

As always, we want to hear from you. What games will you be picking up this week? What games this Summer are you most looking forward to?
