Taking a look over the games due to be released in the next few days, one thing becomes clear almost immediately: this is going to be a good week to shop from home.

Far and away the most anticipated title of the week is the first map pack to Treyarch’s record-breaking smash, Call of Duty: Black Ops. That’s right, First Strike hits in mere hours — no doubt many of you are counting the minutes until it releases even now.

Capcom is adding to the quality digitally distributed offerings this week with Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Those may be the most anticipated games this week, but there are other choices out there. Take a look at the new releases for Januay 30 through February 5, 2011, broken out by platform and date.

You’ve seen the trailer that heavily features the new Zombie map, Ascension. You’ve watched the Inside Xbox Preview and looked at the screens. All that remains is to lay down the 1200 MS Points ($15) and start playing. If the Call of Duty: Black Ops — First Strike Map Pack matches the sales of the Modern Warfare 2 map packs released nearly a year ago — and there is no reason to doubt that it will — Activision and Treyarch could be looking at a major new influx of revenue for their billion dollar game. The hour is almost at hand. The Call of Duty: Black Ops — First Strike map pack comes exclusivley to Xbox Live February 1, 2011.

A few years ago, Capcom mounted a campaign to reintroduce Bionic Commando to the gaming masses. Two games were commissioned: a brand new, 3D action platformer, and an updated version of the classic arcade game. While the former ultimately didn’t connect with audiences and critics quite as well as Capcom had hoped, the later was an unqualified success. Now Capcom is rolling out Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. Will it be as much fun as its retro-revival predecessor? The trailers have been looking pretty good. In any case, we’ll know for sure when the game comes to PSN on February 1 and XBLA on February 2, 2011.

As always, we want to hear from you. What games are you planning to pick up this week? Will the First Strike map pack take up so much of your gaming time that there wont be room for anything else?
