Metroid: Other M Samus

Welcome back, Ranters. August is all set to go out with a bang, and September stands ready to swing in and take over. But what does that mean for games?

Quite a lot, as it turns out. PAX Prime 2010 is this weekend, and you know we're excited about that.  September brings with it the first full wave of Fall blockbuster titles, including Halo: Reach in just two short weeks. And Nintendo is all set to release what just may be the last great game of the Summer: Metroid: Other M.

So take a look at the new releases for August 20 through Sept 4, 2010, broken out by platform and date.

No other game this week lay claim to the excitement generated by the return of Samus Aran in Metroid: Other M. Will Team Ninja's stab at Nintendo's venerable franchise be received as a modern classic or a confusing mis-step? We'll know soon enough. And, of course, you can count on your friends at Game Rant to give you the low-down, one way or the other, in our full review of the game, coming soon.

Other publishers have pretty well left this week to Nintendo, but a few other notable games are sneaking through the cracks.

Sam and Max bring gamers another dose of downloadable detective-based hilarity with episode five of The Devil's Playhouse. Meanwhile, the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition is a great package for the itchy-trigger-finger crowd.

Finally, though the game is almost inexcusably late, PS3 owners who have yet to play The Behemoths's Castle Crashers apt to find themselves powerfully entertained by the game's colorfully cartoony hack-n-slash goodness. That game is fun.

As always, we want to hear from you. What games are you planning to play this week? And what upcoming games are you looking forward to?
