Well, it had to happen sooner or later. After weeks and weeks of such high-profile releases as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10: The Masters, Shift 2 Unleashed, Crysis 2, and Homefront -- not to mention the North American launch of the Nintendo 3DS -- we've finally hit a bit of a dry patch. No real blockbusters, no marquee titles, no midnight openings; it's going to be a quiet week.

Sure, there are some games coming out. Red Faction fans have the downloadable Battlegrounds to look forward to. Microsoft's Kinect gets a version of the inexplicably popular Wii series Carnival Games. And the legion of Glee fanatics might really enjoy Karaoke Revolution Glee: Volume 2. The rest of us can take heart in the fact that Mortal Kombat and Portal 2 are only a couple of weeks away.

Take a look at the new releases for April 3 though 9, 2011, broken out by platform and date.

Red Faction: Battlegrounds in the downloadable, arcade-style vehicular combat game designed to prime the masses for May's Red Faction: Armageddon. Will Battlegrounds be enough to tide Red Faction followers over for the better part of two months? We'll know soon enough. Red Faction: Battlegrounds launches April 5, 2011, on the PlayStation Network, and April 6, 2011, on Xbox Live Arcade.

Another PlayStation Network title finds a couple of new homes this week, as Big Sandwich Game's Hoard flies to the Mac and PC. It's a clever and fun little game, and as we noted in our Hoard review, the title may actually be better suited to playing up close on a monitor rather than on a television half-way across the room. Hoard will be available for the Mac and PC on April 4 and 5, respectively.

On the Xbox 360 this week, The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile takes another stab (sorry, just couldn't help it) at success. The first game was great to look at, but faltered a bit when it came to playability. Let's hope the second time is the charm. And the 10 million families that have made the Kinect the fastest selling piece of consumer electronics ever may really get a kick out of Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do! -- goodness knows thier Wii owning counterparts have -- though the less casual gamers out there are probably safe giving it a pass.

As always, we want to hear from you. Will you be picking up any games this week? What upcoming titles are you most looking forward to?
