New Pokemon Snap will be coming out on the Nintendo Switch later in just a few months. With players only knowing what Pokemon will be appearing based on the two trailers that have already been released, there is still plenty of room for speculation.

Some of the most popular Pokemon out there are the legendary and mythical Pokemon. Considering how players will be going on a safari for the search for great photo Pokemon photos, legendary and mythical Pokemon seem perfect for New Pokemon Snap. Even the original Pokemon Snap had Mew as a final encounter for players find as well as the legendary birds.

With New Pokemon Snap already having more Pokemon shown in its trailers than were in the entirety of the original Pokemon Snap, there's a lot of potential for even more legendary and mythical Pokemon to appear. There could even be multiple hidden in levels for players to find, and these could make for good photo opportunities.

Shaymin

Pokemon Shaymin

There are plenty of adorable mythical Pokemon out there with Shaymin being one of them. Shaymin, however, has a lot of potential for many different unique photo opportunities in New Pokemon Snap due to its rarity and special mechanic.

With it being a Pokemon native to meadows, Shaymin would be a perfect secret Pokemon to find in a flowery area. It would likely hide among the grasses and flowers unless it was lured out somehow by the player, which could then be expanded further for even more photos if players somehow get Shaymin to interact with a Gracidia Flower. This would allow for Shaymin to transform into its Sky Form, which would give players the opportunity to take photos of the transformation and Shaymin's Sky Form itself.

Kyogre

Pokemon Kyogre

Kyogre is part of the weather trio with it having the ability to bring upon torrential downpours and expand bodies of water. While it is most well known for its many conflicts with Groudon, it also does take residence in the ocean among other water-type Pokemon. An ocean surface level was shown in both trailer for New Pokemon Snap that showed the various water-type Pokemon taking residence there. While this seems like a peaceful place, it would be neat to possibly be able to summon Kyogre for a photo in this location. One method could be by somehow making it rain in the area, while another could be somehow tricking Kyogre into thinking that Groudon had appeared. Either way, it would definitely change the mood for the level and let players see the absolute majesty of this legendary Pokemon.

Mewtwo

Ever since its premiere in the initial Pokemon games, Mewtwo has remained an incredibly popular Pokemon among fans. Despite it being a Kanto native, it was not including among the 63 Pokemon appearing in the original Pokemon Snap, but this only means there's more potential. At this point in the Pokemon timeline, it is most likely that Mewtwo is no longer in the Kanto region as shown in Pokemon X, Y, Sword, and Shield. With it being confirmed that New Pokemon Snap will be taking place in a brand new region, it could be possible for Mewtwo to have made a new home on these islands.

Considering the relationship Mewtwo has had with humans in the past, Mewtwo likely wouldn't let itself be photographed by players easily. An encounter with it would likely be similar to the encounter with Mew in the original Pokemon Snap where players will need to whittle down Mewtwo's psychic powers in order to get a good photo.

Diancie

Not too many Pokemon native to the Kalos region have been shown to be appearing in New Pokemon Snap so far. It is very likely that more will be appearing outside the trailers once the game is released with one mythical Pokemon having a lot of potential, though.

Diancie is a dual rock and fairy-type Pokemon that is often depicted as a princess-like figure. It can create diamonds and lives among another Kalos-native Pokemon, Carbink. For New Pokemon Snap, Diancie would be an interesting find in a cave level if players interact with Carbink in certain ways. This could either result in a Carbink mutating into a Diancie, which is said to be how Diancie are made or could lead players down a hidden path where a Diancie is living. This also has the potential for a beautiful level where players will explore a cave filled with gorgeous crystals and gems.

The Regi Pokemon

Pokemon Regirock

The Regi Pokemon, also known as the Legendary Titans are well known among Pokemon fans for the difficult puzzles required to discover them. They are also known as the Legendary Giants in Pokemon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra DLC. With said DLC introducing two new members of this group with Regieleki and Regidrago, New Pokemon Snap could have players get every one of them on film.

If these Pokemon do appear in this upcoming game, players would likely need to complete some kind of puzzle in order to get them to appear. This could either mean taking photos of specific objects of Pokemon in a certain order or something else entirely. Getting photos of all these Pokemon could even get the creator of the Regi Pokemon to appear, Regigigas.

Arceus

Pokemon Arceus

New Pokemon Snap isn't a classic JRPG, but going up against the most powerful entity in the Pokemon universe seems like the ultimate photo opportunity that could serve as a final encounter in this upcoming game. With how elusive it is, a photo of Arceus would probably serve as the best picture a Pokemon photographer could take.

As mentioned before, the original Pokemon Snap had Mew as the final encounter. With it being one of the rarest Pokemon at the time, the encounter became a truly special one. However, hundreds of Pokemon have been added to the series since that game's original release. At this point, Arceus seems to be the best Pokemon to serve as a final challenge that would also be willing to test the players that dare to come before it.

New Pokemon Snap will be available for the Nintendo Switch on April 30th, 2021.
