Not long after beginning their adventure in the Lental region, players will unlock the ability to use Fluffruit during their research expeditions. Just like in the first Pokemon Snap game, the fruit can be used to feed and lure hungry Pokemon out into the open, although there are one or two additional uses in New Pokemon Snap.

Players can use the fruit to trigger special Pokemon poses which are needed to completely fill out the Photodex. It's also required to unlock a number of additional routes throughout the game and, in some courses, can even be used to make two Pokemon attack each other. With this in mind, it can be a vital tool for those looking to take unique photographs in New Pokemon Snap.

How To Unlock Fluffruit

Unlocking Fluffruit in New Pokemon Snap

Fluffruit isn't available straight away, although players shouldn't have to wait too long to get their hands on it. It's unlocked straight after completing the Illumina Spot in Florio Nature Park and can be used thereafter simply by aiming with the camera lens and pressing the B button.

There's no limit on how many players can throw, although there is a slight delay between uses. Generally though, by the time one piece has landed, it's usually possible to throw another. They're a little bit heavier than Illumina Orbs and so players will need to aim a little higher than far away targets in order to account for this.

How To Use Fluffruit

There are quite a few different uses for Fluffruit in the game, but the most common is to take photographs of Pokemon eating. Quite a lot of Pokemon have a photograph dedicated to this in the Photodex and so it's worth attempting to feed them all just to find out. Not all Pokemon will eat Fluffruit though, so this is very much a case of trial and error.

Luring a Pikachu closer to the camera with Fluffruit in New Pokemon Snap

Another important use for Fluffruit is to lure Pokemon closer to the camera, which will be necessary when snapping some of the game's smaller Pokemon. Even with the larger ones though, it can be a great way to get them to look towards the camera. Throwing a Fluffruit into some of the holes and caves throughout the game will often lead to a Pokemon coming out too and any half-buried Pokemon will usually emerge after being hit with a Fluffruit.

While not every Pokemon likes to eat Fluffruit, that doesn't mean that throwing it at them isn't a good idea. If players hit Pokemon with Fluffruit, they will often become sad or angry and will sometimes offer up a unique pose for the Photodex as a result. There are one or two instances when they will even attack other Pokemon after being hit and can sometimes open up new parts of a course due to their anger.

Waking up sleeping Pokemon with Fluffruit in New Pokemon Snap

Finally, Fluffruit can be used to wake up sleeping Pokemon in certain courses, although this doesn't always work. While most of the smaller Pokemon will usually wake up after being hit with a piece of the fruit, some of the larger ones will sometimes remain sleeping. In these cases, players should instead use the Melody Player in order to wake them, although they won't unlock this feature until a little further on in the game.
