Assuming players have installed the free 2.0 update, they'll be able to access the Mightwide River (Day) course right after completing New Pokemon Snap's main story. Though at first glance it can seem quite linear, it's actually a fairly complicated course with plenty of Pokemon to find. There are also two alternate routes, one of which must be unlocked during the nighttime version of the course before it becomes available in the day. In that sense, the course is a little bit like Shiver Snowfields.

As well as 20 different types of Pokemon, River (Day) features four LenTalk photo requests, a few of which can be a little tricky to unlock. Players will not only need to reach research level 3 in the River (Day) course, but they'll also need to reach research level 2 in River (Night) in order to unlock the Moonlit Cave. It's definitely worth the effort though, as some of the photos are incredibly unique and cannot be taken elsewhere.

Overhead Friend Request Guide

The Overhead Friend request in New Pokemon Snap's Mightywide River (Day) course

Players will receive the Overhead Friend request from Rita after photographing the flying Tropius near the beginning of the course at research level 3. She'll ask for a photo of another Pokemon taking a ride on one of the Tropius, which is going to require a little bit of engineering on the player's part in order to make happen.

After receiving the request, players should return to the River (Day) course at research level 3 and look for some bubbles in the water to their left near the start of the course. At earlier research levels, hitting this spot with an Illumina Orb will cause a Magikarp to jump out of the water. At level 3, however, the Magikarp is replaced by a Wooper, which will run off into the undergrowth soon after it emerges.

A little later on near the waterfall, the same Wooper will show up again riding on the head of a flying Tropius. To complete the request, players should take a photo of this happening in which Tropius is the main subject. It's not a huge deal if players miss the moment though, as they'll get another chance to capture it at the end of the course when the pair return. The photo will be a four star shot, as will any photos that players take of the Wooper while it's on top of the Tropius' head.

Psychic Sidekick Request Guide

The Psychic Sidekick request in New Pokemon Snap's Mightywide River (Day) course

In order to receive the Psychic Sidekick request, players will first need to snap and submit a photo of Psyduck in the River (Day) course. After doing so, Phil will mention that he saw a Magikarp floating in the air and request that the player finds out what was going on for him. To do this, players will need to return to the course at research level 1 and make their way to the point where there's a Psyduck being chased by three Aipom.

Before doing anything, players should focus on the Aipom and perform multiple scans so that they stop chasing the Psyduck. Next, they should look for a patch of bubbles on their left just before the rapids and hit the spot with a few Illumina Orbs. This will cause a Magikarp to flop out of the water and land on the ground. If all goes to plan, Psyduck will then use its psychic powers to lift the stranded Magikarp up and put it back into the water.

To complete the request, players will need to capture this moment on camera, ensuring that both Pokemon are in the frame and that Psyduck is the main subject. The resulting photo will be classed as four star, as too will any photos that the player takes of Magikarp while it is floating above the ground. It's worth noting that this request can only be fulfilled at research level 1, as this is the only time that the Magikarp can be made to jump onto the land in this area.

Drilbur Propeller Request Guide

The Drilbur Propeller request in New Pokemon Snap's Mightywide River (Day) course

Once players reach research level 3, a colony of Drilbur will start showing up on some rocks on the left-hand side of the river just past the waterfall. After players have turned in a photo of them, Todd will ask them to get a shot of the Drilbur jumping out from a wall, though he'll also settle for a photo of them digging into one. To fulfill his request, players will need to return to the course at research level 3 and make their way to the point where they first encounter the Drilbur.

High above the NEO-ONE to the player's left is a large group of Drilbur, and using the Melody Player while focusing on them will cause them all to dig into the wall behind them. Not long after this happens, players will pass three Drilbur walking around on the ground to their left, at which point they should again use the Melody Player and then turn to their right and focus on the wall on the opposite side of the river.

After a moment or two, the entire colony of Drilbur will begin flying above the NEO-ONE and then start drilling into the stone wall to the right. Capturing this moment on camera will be enough to fulfill the request, while also providing players with a nice four star photo of Drilbur. If players then illuminate the Crystabloom after navigating the rapids that follow, they'll be able to get some nice close-up shots of the Drilbur that shows up.

Cleffa's Training Request Guide

The Cleffa's Training request in New Pokemon Snap's Mightywide River (Day) course

Players will have to jump through quite a few hoops in order to receive the Cleffa's Training request from Rita. First, they'll need to reach research level 3 in River (Day) and research level 2 in River (Night). At this point, they'll be able to gain access to the Moonlit Cave by scanning the area opposite the Swampert in River (Night). After unlocking it at nighttime, players will be able to visit the cave in River (Day) by scanning in the same area. It can be accessed at both research levels 1 and 3, although Cleffa only shows up while playing on the latter; and only if players illuminate the Crystabloom on the right.

Once they've snapped a photograph of Cleffa in River (Day), players will receive the request in their LenTalk inbox and should then make their way back to the Moonlit Cave at research level 3. They'll need to hit the Crystabloom on the right with multiple Illumina Orbs until four Cleffa appear and then hit the group with more Illumina Orbs. This will lead to them using Metronome and players should get a shot of the move that they end up using after (there are a few different possibilities).

Players should make sure that all four Cleffa are in shot, which will be classed as a four star photo. It's also possible to get a three star shot here by capturing the moment they start using Metronome, although players will need to hand in the four star shot in order to complete the request. It's worth noting that lighting up the Crystabloom on the left before the Cleffa have used the move will cause a Feraligatr to jump out of the water and scare them all away, so players should avoid doing this; at least until after they've got the shot that they need.
