Fans of the Pokemon series have been asking for a sequel to the N64 Pokemon Snap since its North American release in 2000. As a spinoff to the original series, New Pokemon Snap sees trainers becoming photographers and traveling around the game world taking pictures of Pokemon instead of capturing them in Pokeballs. Fans finally got their wish at Pokemon Presents in 2020, when Nintendo announced an all-new Pokemon Snap scheduled to be released on the Switch.

Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon added in a picture-snapping feature, but this wasn't enough to satisfy fans of the original game. The long-awaited New Pokemon Snap will see players traversing the Lental Region, working with the newest Pokemon Professor Mirror and his assistant Rita. Thanks to the listing in the Nintendo eShop, fans can now see the price of the digital version of the game, as well as the file size.

New Pokemon Snap will be selling for $59.99, and have a file size of 6.8 GB. Retailers may end up selling the game for a lower price on physical copies, but players should make sure to have enough space on their Switch's SD card so they can download the game when they buy a digital copy. New Pokemon Snap will be supported for docked, tabletop, and handheld modes, as well as being able to use Switch Pro Controllers and the Save Data Cloud.

New Pokemon Snap Trailer Footage

There isn't too much information regarding New Pokemon Snap floating around, however, the game trailer did show 36 different Pokemon. Compared to the original game which featured only 63 different species, this is quite a bit. New Pokemon Snap could take after Sword and Shield, including a huge number of Pokemon. Since the game doesn't require Pokemon stat data, it could be possible to include every single Pokemon and regional variant in New Pokemon Snap. The inclusion of all Pokemon and legendaries would add to the replay value of each stage in the game, as players will need to go through it multiple times to find every Pokemon and snap a picture.

Without any official announcements, fans are left to look to the eShop listing for any crumbs of information. Since the game takes place in a new region, players have speculated as to whether New Pokemon Snap will include new Pokemon. For now, all players know is the file size of 6.8 GB and the price of the digital game. New Pokemon Snap finally being made has spawned speculation of the next sequels for Nintendo games, but anything beyond New Pokemon Snap is all rumors at this point.

New Pokemon Snap will release on the Nintendo Switch on April 30, 2021.
