The original Pokemon Snap game released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999 and quickly became a cult favorite among fans of the Pokemon franchise. The game was known for encouraging players to experiment with the courses, figuring out how they can make different Pokemon interact with each other to get certain results. Sometimes these interactions would lead to Pokemon evolving, which in turn allowed Pokemon Snap players to get pictures of new creatures.

The recently released New Pokemon Snap on the Nintendo Switch seems to do away with that particular feature, unfortunately. As reported by ComicBook, New Pokemon Snap doesn't have Pokemon evolutions. So players won't find themselves doing things like figuring out how they can make a Charmander evolve all the way to its final form of Charizard as they did in the original Pokemon Snap game.

It's unclear why exactly New Pokemon Snap abandoned this particular facet of gameplay, but it doesn't seem to have impacted the game's overall reception. In fact, New Pokemon Snap reviews are mostly positive, with many critics praising the game's visuals and for otherwise successfully updating the Pokemon Snap formula for modern audiences. Some fans online have expressed their disappointment that the feature was removed, however.

datamine roster dlc potential rumor

While this fan favorite feature does not appear to be in the New Pokemon Snap base game, it's possible that it could be added at some point down the road. Dataminers have found evidence that New Pokemon Snap DLC expansions could be on the way in some form, though nothing has been announced in an official capacity. It's entirely possible that there will not be any DLC released for New Pokemon Snap, so fans should keep their expectations in check.

And even if there is New Pokemon Snap DLC, that doesn't mean the DLC will bring back this popular feature. It may just be more of the same, letting New Pokemon Snap players explore more of the Lental Region, or maybe giving them the opportunity to visit other Regions in the Pokemon universe. Fans will likely have to wait and see how well New Pokemon Snap does before they start worrying about any DLC or lack thereof.

In any case, it's clear that there are some New Pokemon Snap fans who are unhappy that they can't make Pokemon evolve anymore, but they can still interact with Pokemon in the world in other ways at least, mainly by using Fluffruit.

New Pokemon Snap is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
