After braving the depths of the Lental Seafloor Undersea course in New Pokemon Snap, players will unlock the Maricopia Island Illumina Spot. Like the course that proceeds it, all of the action takes place deep underwater and so visibility can sometimes be poor which makes photography a little difficult at times. Thankfully though, the Illumina Pokemon that players are there to photograph will be glowing most of the time if all goes to plan, so this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

As well as the two forms of Wishiwashi, there are also four other types of Pokemon throughout the course for players to find and photograph. As is typically the case with Illumina Spots in New Pokemon Snap, all of the additional Pokemon can be photographed elsewhere in the game, although that doesn't mean that there aren't still some great photo opportunities to be found lurking down in the water's depths.

Research Level 1

  • Wishiwashi - Upon first arriving at the Illumina Spot, Wishiwashi is the only Pokemon that players will be able to see. To photograph it, they'll need to hit as many of the solo form Wishiwashi with Illumina Orbs as they can, or use the two Crystabloom flowers to illuminate any groups of them that happen to swim past. There are three main interactions to observe, the first of which is the underwater twister that's needed for the course's only photo request. To see this, players will just need to pelt school form Wishiwashi with Illumina Orbs in the first section of the course. Illuminating it in the second area will lead to Wishiwashi looping in circles, while doing so in the final section of the course will sometimes lead to Wishiwashi swallowing the NEO-ONE, especially if players didn't trigger the twister interaction earlier on.

Research Level 2

  • Wailmer - Upon returning to the course, players will be able to find two Wailmer directly in front of them as soon as they spawn in.
  • Finneon - A school of Finneon will show up with a bunch of solo form Wishiwashi in the section after the Wailmer. More will show up at the end of the course if players get eaten by school form Wishiwashi.
  • Luvdisc - When the solo form Wishiwashi return for a third time they will be accompanied by a group of Luvdisc. If swallowed, players will also be able to get a three star photograph of Luvdisc by peering out of the left side of school form Wishiwashi's mouth.
  • Wailord - In the final section of the course, players will be met with a huge school of solo form Wishiwashi. If they're able to illuminate enough of them, the Wishiwashi will all swim off as they usually would. A few moments later, however, they'll return with a Wailord swimming up behind them and trying to eat them. After they transform into their school form though, the tables quickly turn and another great photo opportunity presents itself to players as a result.
