Once players have visited New Pokemon Snap's Park (Night) course for the first time, they'll gain access to the game's first Illumina Spot. It's here that they'll find their first Illumina Pokemon, although there are quite a few other Pokemon hiding out in the course as well. Some are easy to find, but discovering the others will require a a little bit of hard work on the player's part.

At research level 2, there are eight different types of Pokemon to photograph in the course and another one shows up once players have completed the game. With the exception of Meganium, all of the Pokemon at the Florio Island Illumina Spot can be found elsewhere in New Pokemon Snap, although it's still a great place to take three or four star photographs of some of the rarer ones like Sylveon and Shaymin.

Research Level 1

  • Meganium - Meganium is the first Illumina Pokemon that players will encounter in New Pokemon Snap. Initially, they'll only be able to submit photographs of it taken while it's being illuminated by the glowing Crystabloom. Later on, however, players can return to the course and capture more poses. For a four star photo, players should avoid hitting Meganium with any Illumina Orbs until the second Crystabloom. Here, they'll need to illuminate the Crystabloom and then pelt Meganium with Illumina Orbs as it bends down to smell it. If done correctly, the Pokemon will rear up on its hind legs before running away towards the pink tree.

Research Level 2

  • Eevee - When players return to the course at research level 2, Eevee will be riding on the back of Meganium at the beginning of the course. It will then follow along for the first section.
  • Sylveon - Sylveon is asleep in a bush over on the right at the start of the course and hitting it with a well placed Illumina Orb will wake it up. If needed, players can take one to four star photos of it at various points throughout the course.
  • Comfey - If players want the two Comfey to show up, they'll need to illuminate Meganium at the start of the course and keep it lit up until the first Crystabloom. If successful, the Comfey will float in as Meganium reacts to the Crystabloom.
  • Pikachu - There are some bushes that look a little like palm trees lining the cliffs on the right hand side of the course. If players throw a Fluffruit into the ones on the left side of the group opposite the second Crystabloom, Pikachu will run out and interact with Meganium.
  • Emolga - Just before the Ancient Ruins, there's another row of the same bushes over on the right hand side. Players will again need to aim for the ones on the left to make Emolga fly out, although they'll need to be accurate as it's quite a difficult shot and they'll only have one or two opportunities to make it while the bushes are actually in range.
  • Combee - When players arrive at the pink tree near the end of the course, they'll be able to summon out some Combee by repeatedly hitting the stump with Fluffruit. There are four or five of them in total, although there's no real benefit to summoning more than one of them.
  • Hoothoot - If players aim their Fluffruit into the branches on the opposite side of the tree, they'll hit the Hoothoot that's hiding there and cause it to fall out. Photographing it while it is still falling will count as a four star photo while getting a picture of Meganium with the Hoothoot falling will fulfill the Meganium's Pal photo request. This is a lot easier if players triggered Meganium's four star pose earlier as it guarantees that it will run around the tree.

End Game

  • Shaymin - Once players have completed the game, they'll be able to find Shaymin hiding up on the cliffs to the left of the first Crystabloom. Throwing a few Illumina Orbs up there should bring it to the very edge of the cliff, where it will eventually speak with Meganium before jumping on its head for a nice four star photo opportunity.
