The modern version of Nintendo's photography-inspired title, New Pokemon Snap, seems to have captured the hearts of old and new players through its simple yet entertaining gameplay. Not only is the title nostalgic for older gamers, it is also one of the best FPS games for the younger generation to play nowadays. Given how popular the Pokemon sphere is globally, it is not surprising for fans to produce their own content inspired by the franchise's creatures, animated series, and video game titles. This includes one hardcore New Pokemon Snap player who even fabricated a special camera controller for their Nintendo Switch that allows them to replicate the feeling of taking photos while playing.

New Pokemon Snap is one of several titles that The Pokemon Company has revived and placed into the modern gaming landscape. The franchise remade Pokemon Mystery Dungeon on the Nintendo Switch, and will be coming out with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for the same platform in the latter half of 2021. Fans are likely also looking forward to the next-generation mainstream title Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

To make their New Pokemon Snap gameplay experience a bit more immersive, YouTuber BigRigCreates produced a custom controller that looks and has several functions similar to a real-life camera. Complaining about The Pokemon Company missing out on releasing the photography game on the Wii U, BigRigCreates took it upon themselves to fabricate a controller that makes use of the Nintendo Switch's gyro functions to move the view around, and even allows players to zoom in and out while playing.

To make the custom controller, the YouTuber used a 3D printer and based their design from model blueprints inspired by the Nintendo Labo VR kits. The creator did mention that they did not discover the perfect way to play New Pokemon Snap, however, they were able to provide a unique device that other fans can explore and look into. Many comments on YouTube seemed to show ecstatic responses to the 3D creation, while others said that the game would be perfect in VR. Some were even hopeful that New Pokemon Snap would be made compatible with Nintendo Labo in the future.

BigRigCreates is known for their unique 3D-printed creations from popular Nintendo games such as The Legend of Zelda, and, of course, Pokemon. With no news on the horizon for a VR version of New Pokemon Snap, the custom camera controller may be the next best thing for fans who wish to have an interesting photography experience while playing the nostalgic title.
