The launch of Mortal Komat 11 is less than two months away and NetherRealm Studios is ramping up the hype. Trickling out individual fighter trailers has been paused, understandable after Mortal Kombat 11's full roster leak, and a hearty new story trailer has been released in trade. The new trailer isn't just focused on Mortal Kombat 11's story, however. It also confirms three roster additions: Erron Black, Cassie Cage, and Jacqui Briggs.

Mortal Kombat 11's story is as wild as fans of the franchise would expect. Raiden was forced to cleanse the Jinsei, the Earth's lifeforce, of Shinnok's corrupting power at the end of Mortal Kombat 10. As a result, he's grown sick with dark power and has become a threat to the Realms. Kronika, the Keeper of Time and Architect of Destiny within the Mortal Kombat universe, is willing to go to great lengths to restore balance in opposition to Dark Raiden. "My work's perfection has been tainted by Raiden's actions."

As the new Mortal Kombat 11 trailer shows, Kronika's influence brings together the "two ages" of Mortal Kombat. As such, several characters or versions of characters from Mortal Kombat's history have returned. Kronika brokers her power with Shao Kahn to create a new empire. It's an Outerworld/Netherrealm/Earthrealm crossover and everyone's invited to the party.

The new Mortal Kombat 11 trailer isn't just meant to share the game's story, however. It's also packed to the brim with character reveals. The three main reveals, featuring gameplay and Fatality examples, are for gunslinger Erron Black and two Kombat Kids, Cassie Cage and Jacqui Briggs.

Watchful fans will notice way more than just three character reveals in this trailer, though. It's packed to the brim with teases for as-yet-unofficial roster additions, though the full roster leak has spoiled quite a few of them. Shao Kahn's second, the new character Kollector, Frost, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Kotal Kahn are all shown in fighting form. Some of them are even shown in multiple forms, due to the two eras clashing.

Mortal Kombat 11's multiple timeframes clashing will definitely be the highlight of the game and it seems like NetherRealm Studios has crafted a story that allows them to give fans exactly what they want. The trailer even teases a Scorpion vs. Scorpion fight. Getting the roster leaked isn't going to slow down the excitement for what NetherRealm is putting together in Mortal Kombat 11.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
