Mortal Kombat has become the series that keeps on giving as of late. Not only are the games, including current series standout Mortal Kombat 11, absolutely fantastic, and not only are fans getting a full length animated Mortal Kombat movie, but new tidbits and treats like brutalities are constantly being added.

Brutalities have been a staple of the Mortal Kombat series for a long time, and were a welcomed addition to Mortal Kombat 11, even if some of them are devilishly hard to do. One of the latest to be discovered is a particularly quick and nasty bit of dismemberment from Kitana.

The brutality requires the final blow to be delivered with Kitana's teleportation attack. Kitana warps behind her opponent and, using her trademark edged fans, folded into razor-sharp knives, cuts open her opponent's stomach. The blades are so sharp that, somehow, it cuts the opponent completely in half, leaving them half-kneeling and half-lying on the ground in defeat. Seeing as Sindel is the one being cleaved in half in the video, it is safe to assume the brutality does not break the Sindel Cleavage rule

Discovering brutalities is one of the primary pursuits of many Mortal Kombat 11 players, and it is often more in the service of their fellow players than for themselves. Finishing an opponent with a certain move is only part of how a brutality is executed; many of them also required a fairly complex combination before the final move connects, otherwise the opponent will just keel over like normal. For players who want to master the complex chains that lead up to a successful brutality, or who just want to see an old Mortal Kombat fatality given new life, videos like these are a particularly helpful service.

Brutalities like these are often difficult to come by outside of a dedicated video, since the requirements can be so extreme, and the sad part is that sometimes the effort simply is not worth the result. When a new brutality was discovered for Geras not too long ago, fans were left scratching their heads over whether or not the chase was even worth it.

There is a real draw to brutalities though, even when they are not as flashy as would be hoped: the prestige. Finishing a foe with a Fatality is definitely fun, but players have plenty of time to perform the proper input since the fight is already over, and everyone is expecting it anyway. When a player rips someone's heart out as Scorpion as the capstone to a combo they were already rocking, everyone knows that player is a master of their fighting game craft.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available for the PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Stadia.
