A new trailer for Horizon Forbidden West has arrived, emphasizing the story for Guerrilla Games’ hotly anticipated sequel to the 2017 Sony exclusive. The original Horizon Zero Dawn won critical praise from critics for it’s thematically rich story and colorful cast of characters, led by Ashly Burch as protagonist Aloy. Now, with the next generation sequel due out in a few short weeks, Guerrilla has shed some light on what entails Aloy’s next adventure.

Horizon takes place in a post-apocalyptic 31st century, where humans live in tribal like populations with limited technology, except for large robotic creatures known simply as "the machines" that roam the earth. In Zero Dawn, Aloy explores the world in search of answers to her past, and how it may hold the key to protecting her tribe from an unknown group controlling corrupted machines.

The newest trailer for Horizon Forbidden West expands on what has already been teased about the story so far, that the machines have started to become erratic and unstable, and Aloy needs to venture out to the titular "Forbidden West" to find the answer on how to stop this, and prevent a warlord known as Regalla from wrecking havoc. Her journey will also see her team up with fan favorite characters from the previous game, Erend and Varl, and reconfirms the appearance of the character of Sylens, played by Lance Reddick.

Reddick’s return to this series is not the only major A-list actor joining the game’s cast, as both writers Benjamin McCaw and Annie Kitain revealed that both Angela Bassett (Black Panther) and Carrie Anne-Moss (The Matrix) will be voicing two new characters in Horizon Forbidden West. Basset will be playing the aforementioned Regalla, while Moss will be playing a mysterious character named Tilda, who was teased briefly at the very end of this new trailer.

All throughout this new trailer, players are given an expansive look at what Forbidden West will have to offer in terms of its new setting, new tribes, new machine types, and what other kind of dangers lie ahead for Aloy and her allies, with Guerrilla confirming that a big part of Aloy’s journey in this story will involve her relying on her friends, and realizing she can’t save the world all on her own.

All of these new details and exciting reveals make for even more anticipation for the title, and it now remains to be seen whether Guerrilla can exceed the expectations of its previous title and deliver on a stellar new experience.

Horizon Forbidden West is due to be released on February 18th on both PS4 and PS5.
