In new blog post, Halo developer 343 Industries teases what appears to be some all-new Halo projects, as well as revealing the Achievement list of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition.
With the celebration of Halo's 15th anniversary, development on the upcoming Halo Wars 2 approaching completion as it nears its early 2017 launch, and the possibility of more Halo 5: Guardians DLC to come, it goes without saying that 2016 has been quite a big year for 343 Industries. While the Halo franchise is now over a decade and a half old, it appears that there's still much life in the series - and there could potentially be new Halo titles on the way if a new blog post is to be believed.
In the latest community update on the official Halo blog, community manager Ske7ch teased the possibility of future Halo projects by revealing that 343 Industries recently had a "studio-wide presentation by Tim Longo, Halo Creative Director, on some super interesting topics pertaining to super secret future stuff." While Ske7ch didn't reveal that this "super secret future stuff" is, he did say that he left the meeting feeling "very excited."
In spite of the lack of details, there are some solid possibilities as to what went on in the meeting. Given that the studio revealed a while back that Halo 6 is in the planning stages and that a Steven Spielberg-directed Halo television series is in development, it is likely that these two projects could be part of the aforementioned "super secret future stuff" that Ske7tch alluded to.
In addition to the possibility of future Halo projects, Ske7ch's blog post also revealed the full Achievement list for the upcoming Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, which will be launched on Xbox One and PC on December 20 for those who pre-ordered the digital version of Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition. There are a total of 1,500 gamer score points up for grabs and 75 achievements to unlock, the full list of which can be found right here, as well as listed at the end of this post.
The upcoming Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will undoubtedly get players warmed up before the release of Halo Wars 2 on February 21, 2017, a game that could potentially have a "big impact" on Halo 6's narrative. While it is unknown just how Halo Wars 2's story will affect the future narrative of the series, one thing that we do know is that the unannounced Halo 6 will be developed without the creative input of Josh Holmes, the former Head Developer of 343 Industries.
It remains to be seen what the future Halo projects that Ske7ch alluded to in his blog post might be, but given that 343 Industries clearly have big plans for the franchise and the games continue to bring in a good amount of revenue for Xbox and Microsoft, it is likely that we might see an announcement for Halo 6 sooner or later.
