The latest update for Fortnite adds legendary pump shotguns to the mix, but it also hides some hints of what fans of the battle royale game can expect from its future. Dataminers have dug through the latest update's files, and have discovered some brand new skins and emotes that will potentially be added to the game in the coming weeks.

Datamining efforts have uncovered two new skins that may be in the works for Fortnite, called Longshot and Insight. As can be expected, these new skins have matching back bling that players can obtain separately, called the Scope Satchel (for Longshot) and the Sight Sling (Insight's back bling). Players can check out the Scope Satchel and the Sight Sling right here:

Dataminers have also uncovered a new pickaxe that could be coming to Fortnite as part of a future update. The pickaxe in question is actually a lamp with a small moth flying around it, and fans have guessed that it's a reference to the moth meme that dominated social media feeds a few weeks ago. Since the popularity of the moth meme seems to have died out recently, it's possible that Epic will shelve the lamp pickaxe, but that's just speculation at this time.

Besides new skins and the new pickaxe, dataminers also found evidence of unreleased emotes in the latest update's files. The emotes are listed below:

  • Mime Time
  • Phone It In
  • Scorecard
  • Showstopper

Whether or not any of these leaked emotes, skins, and other cosmetic items actually make it to Fortnite battle royale remains to be seen. Some of the cosmetic items that have leaked in the past have never actually been released, and it's possible some of these could suffer the same fate. But even if these specific cosmetic items don't make the cut, Fortnite fans can rest assured that plenty of new cosmetics are on the way, not to mention new content for the game in general.

Fortnite is out now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
