These past few weeks, the Epic Games Store has been giving away mystery free games, revealing the latest free title every Thursday morning. Last week's Epic Games Store free game was multiplayer social deduction game Among Us, letting all Epic Games Store users claim the mega-popular title completely free of charge. There's been a lot of speculation about the next Epic Games Store free game after Among Us, and it's now been officially revealed to the public.

The new Epic Games Store free game players can claim right now is FrostpunkFrostpunk combines city-building with survival gameplay mechanics, with the game earning mostly positive reviews and winning a number of awards when it first launched in 2018. What's interesting about Frostpunk being the latest Epic Games Store free game for June 2021 is that proves a previous leak inaccurate. The French Epic Games page had posted an advertisement for Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration being the free Epic Games Store game for June 3, only for it to get pulled offline. It seems as though this was in error, though it doesn't mean Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration won't be an Epic Games Store free game at some point.

Perhaps the reason why that advertisement was pulled is because the date was wrong. Epic Games has not revealed next week's free Epic Games Store game, instead once again using a countdown clock and keeping it a mystery. It's possible that Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will be next week's free game on the Epic Games Store, but it's also possible that it will be something completely different instead.

It will be interesting to see how long Epic Games continues teasing mystery games for the Epic Games Store. It has done this in the past, but eventually it goes back to giving fans advanced notice about the free games. Regardless, Epic Games Store users can expect plenty more free games throughout 2021.

Come the end of the year, it's possible that Epic Games will host its annual holiday sale, where it gives away free games every day for almost an entire month. Whether or not it goes that extreme with the free games again remains to be seen, but in the meantime fans can look forward to their weekly free games.
