The poster features series mainstays Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan, alongside Pan. Various new characters are featured as well, though the only known members of the bunch are the Gamma duo.

Gohan is notably wearing the purple Gi he donned for most of the original series. The fan-favorite has taken on a considerably smaller role over the years and seems primed to take on a larger role following his exclusion from the last film.

The film is set to come out in Japan sometime next year. No announcements on the film’s international have been made yet. Series creator Akira Toriyama is working on the script while also handling the character design. Toriyama began working on the script for Super Hero while production for Broly was still ongoing.

Planning for the film started a year prior to the release of Broly. The 21st film in the Dragon Ball franchise, Super Hero will tell a large-scale story that will take place sometime before the Peaceful World Saga. The film was announced on Goku Day 2021, with more details released at Comic-Con 2021.

The Dragon Ball Super anime aired from 2015-2018, spanning 131 episodes. Toei Animation produced the series, with One Piece director Tatsuya Nagamine taking over from the 77th episode till its conclusion. Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released in 2018 and earned an estimated US$122.7 million at the box office. The film and the anime are licensed by Funimation in English, with Viz Media publishing the Super manga.
