New Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Content Premiering at Gamescom

new destiny 2 shadowkeep content coming at gamescom

Gamescom 2019 will take place later this month, and the festivities will get started with an exciting event called Opening Night Live that takes place on August 19 at 2pm EDT/11am PDT. Opening Night Live will be hosted by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, and it will feature a number of brand new game reveals and announcements from a variety of developers and publishers, including Destiny 2 developer Bungie.

It's been confirmed that Bungie will have "world premiere content" for Destiny 2 of some kind, most likely related to the game's upcoming Shadowkeep expansion. Perhaps Destiny 2 fans will learn more about why Shadowkeep was recently delayed to October 1, and maybe they'll get a new look at the Shadowkeep expansion's raid.

We know that the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion raid is called Garden of Salvation, and that it will take place in the Black Garden area of Mars. Those who played through the original Destiny will recall that area as being particularly important, so it will be interesting to learn more about what the Destiny 2 Garden of Salvation raid will have in store. Destiny 2 fans the world over will have the chance to dive into the raid and explore it for themselves once it's added on October 5, just a few days after Shadowkeep itself launches on all platforms.

Of course, Bungie could really be making an announcement about anything at Gamescom, and so maybe it will instead focus on new exotic weapons coming in Shadowkeep. Alternatively, it may be detailing a brand new game mode or feature that fans haven't heard anything about yet. Then again, Bungie's presence at Gamescom 2019 may not be all that significant, so perhaps it will only give fans a small taste of what they can expect from the Shadowkeep expansion.

Another possibility is that Bungie will provide more details about the upcoming New Light version of Destiny 2. The free-to-play version of Destiny 2 is expected to launch alongside the Shadowkeep expansion, but there is still some details about it that have been kept underwraps.

We can't say with certainty what Bungie will announce at Gamescom 2019. However, we know that the studio will have a presence at Gamescom 2019 and that it is announcing something. Those excited for the future of Destiny 2 should be sure to tune in to Opening Night Live on Monday, August 19 at 2pm EDT/11 am PDT.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
