Last year, Bungie introduced Destiny 2 players to a brand new event known as the Guardian Games. Styled after the Olympics, the in-game event pit the three classes against one another to see which one would take the gold, silver, and bronze. Although the Hunter class has a population advantage, it was the Titans that ultimately dominated the event, taking home the win as well as a trophy that was placed next to Commander Zavala in the Tower.

Starting next week, the Guardian Games makes its return inside of the Season of the Chosen, serving as the end event to close out the season. This year, the event has seen a few tweaks, particularly to the scoring which was a topic of debate last time. In addition to filling out contender cards to earn additional medals and rewards, players can Earning medals this year awards points with ascending values from Bronze all the way to Platinum. At the end of each week, the third place class will receive a 10% boost to point values for the remainder of the event.

Of course, with a big event like this, Bungie has made sure to include plenty of rewards and loot for players to chase and purchase if they so desire. The Eververse store will be stocked with Guardian Games themed content, much of which was teased inside of the latest This Week At Bungie blog. Items revealed include things like Guardian Games themed Ghost shells that look like a water bottle, a fuzzy tennis ball, and a plush stuffed animal shell. There's a sparrow, a couple of ships, and plenty more.

In addition to a free Guardian Games armor set, Bungie also showed off a brand new Universal Ornament that players can pick up. While each set has it's own holographic visual flair, what makes this particular ornament special is the fact that it is the first to really accept shaders. Thanks to new technology being employed, Destiny 2 players will finally be able to really utilize and see color shaders on future gear.

In addition to gear ornaments, Bungie is holding another fan vote regarding upcoming weapon ornaments. Considering how well the Dinosaurs versus Monsters vote did for the upcoming Festival of the Lost, Bungie is asking fans to pick which three weapons from a list of 12 will be getting ornaments in a future season. Many of the weapons listed are under represented or highly requested by fans like Le Monarque or the Fighting Lion. With fans making the call, Bungie is hoping to have the ornaments ready to go sometime early in 2022.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
