Each new season of Destiny 2 brings a bit of excitement to players who are on the lookout for new weapons and gear including exotics. Fans love the thrill of surprise, which is why hidden quests that appeared and led to weapons like Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected have been so well received. Bungie made a big misstep last season by revealing the Bastion exotic early, which turned out to be a reward for figuring out the lengthy community puzzle inside of the Corridors of Time. So far, Bungie has appeared to keep a few things under wraps which appears to be a brand new exotic weapon.

While it was shown very briefly in the Season of the Worthy trailer, the dataminer known on Twitter as Ginsor seems to have fully uncovered the latest Destiny 2 exotic weapon. Heir Apparent is a machine gun that resembles the weapon that a Cabal Colossus would be using. Its intrinsic perk is called Heavy Slug Thrower which requires that the player first spins up the gun before it can fire. Its trait is known as Armor of the Colossus and it gives the user an arc shield when they spin up the weapon at full health.

The mined information also reveals a catalyst for the weapon though it doesn't confirm what kind of bonuses the masterworked version of the Heir Apparent would receive outside of the standard tracking and orb generation. As expected, Tess Everis is also getting a special weapon ornament, likely to arrive alongside the gun, called Regal Deterrent. Based on the icon image, the typically dark weapon becomes white with black accents.

Details remain unknown as to when the weapon will be appearing and how, so it could be locked to a new hidden quest or perhaps as part of the upcoming Guardian Games event later this season. It's possible this is also tied into some Cabal focused midseason quest as the gun itself features a lot of lore based on the Red Legion and how Calus' daughter is attempting to return the Red Legion back to prominence.

In the meantime however, Bungie has given players a new exotic weapon to chase with The Fourth Horseman, a four barreled, arc pellet shooting shotgun. Better yet, the catalyst can be found inside of Rasputin style events like Seraph Towers and upgrading the catalyst is fairly easy as well. The season's lone pinnacle weapon, Point of the Stag, arrives on March 24 with the Iron Banner event. Completing the Smelting Light quest unlocks this legendary bow and gives players to earn the Armor 2.0 version of Iron Remembrance gear.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
