Not too long ago, NFL players such as Florida State’s Jacques Patrick and University of Georgia’s Riley Ridley reportedly got to spend some time with the new Call of Duty 2019, and while they were prohibited from sharing anything they learned, these NFL players seemingly leaked a few details by having the phrases "killstreaks" and "Modern Warfare 4" in a video (that cybersleuths had to listen closely for). Now, it seems that what Ridley and Patrick were hinting at has been further supported by Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota.

In a recent Fortnite stream with NICKMERCS, Mariota commented on his time with the new Call of Duty 2019. When asked what his favorite Call of Duty was, Mariota replied, "the original Modern Warfare." Mariota then continued to say that he's played the new entry in the first-person shooter franchise, with the QB drawing comparisons to the original Modern Warfare.

For many, this is indubitably good news, as Modern Warfare 1, 2, and even 3 were considered highlights of the long-running franchise. It remains uncertain if this 2019 entry is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 or if comparisons are just being drawn, but according to Mariota, this new Call of Duty is "pretty dope."

Sadly, Mariota went no further than this, but the narrative director for the next Call of Duty, Taylor Kurosakihas previously confirmed that this is his most ambitious project ever. This is made even more impressive by the rumored lack of a Battle Royale mode in Modern Warfare 4 (assuming that this is indeed the title of Kurosaki's next venture). So, it could be that Kurosaki intends to be a trendsetter, instead of a trend follower.

This should all be revealed in due time, as rumors that Activision is prepping an official Call of Duty announcement have begun to make rounds on the Internet since the NFL preview. Considering the publisher has already allowed the 2019 entry of Call of Duty to be seen by a select handful, it stands to reason that this announcement would come sooner rather than later. We simply have to wait on Activision, as the ball is in their court.

Call of Duty 2019 currently has no official title or release date.
