Rockstar Games just recently updated Red Dead Redemption 2 with the free Frontier Pursuits expansion, which added multiplayer specialist roles among other things. Besides giving Red Dead Redemption 2 players specialist roles to master, it seems as though the latest update for Rockstar's open world western has also added a reference to Bully, further fueling the fire that a Bully 2 announcement is coming sooner rather than later.
Fans have discovered a new wanted poster in Red Dead Redemption 2 for a woman named Meredith Hopkins. Meredith is wanted dead or alive for shooting her neighbor's farmhand "in a fit of rage." The boy was apparently trespassing on her property. No other details about Meredith Hopkins were revealed, but her last name is important, as it's the same last name as protagonist Jimmy Hopkins from Bully.
This could just be a coincidence, but it also seems deliberate, especially since this isn't the first potential Bully reference Rockstar has slipped into its games recently. Grand Theft Auto Online has multiple Bully references, with the most recent update adding one of the most blatant ones yet, letting players decorate their penthouse with the Bullsworth Academy coat of arms.
Rumors have been swirling for months now that Rockstar's next game is Bully 2, and these nods to the game are certainly lending credibility to those rumors. However, it's worth pointing out that some of the Bully 2 leaks that have claimed the game is in development have been proven false.
For example, supposed Bully 2 screenshots appeared online, claiming to show the unannounced game's pause menu and map. The images seemed genuine enough, but it was later revealed that the supposed Bully 2 leaked screenshots were fake. It's quite possible that other leaks surrounding the game are fake as well, and Rockstar may be working on something else entirely.
The other theory regarding Rockstar's next game is that the company is moving forward with Grand Theft Auto 6. Some supposed Grand Theft Auto 6 screenshots appeared on Reddit recently, but those are likely fake as well. Ultimately, fans will just want to wait for an official announcement from Rockstar before getting their hopes up about anything involving GTA 6 or Bully 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
