When it was released in 2007, the original BioShock game was something of a landmark entry for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era. With some of the best environmental storytelling in gaming, it quickly became a huge success. While its 2010 sequel didn't leave a lasting impression, 2013's Bioshock: Infinite was almost as well received as the first installment. Now, with a new game in the pipeline, fans are no doubt wondering about where things will be taken, and there have been some leaks doing the rounds about some possible details.

According to a report, which points to a number of tweets, there are speculations about the next BioShock game, such as the fact that it may be getting built in Unreal Engine 5. There's also a possibility that it could be given the title BioShock Isolation. Perhaps the most interesting leak so far suggests that the fourth installment in the series may feature two cities.

One of the leaks shows a somewhat low resolution image from a slideshow. The image features the words "there's always a city" which is a callback to BioShock: Infinite's major storyline revelation regarding lighthouses. The slide also shows an image of two cities, one upright with the second one seemingly built underneath going upside down. Some information on the slide describe the top city as being a "free and wealthy society," while the bottom one is more of an "isolated underground" city. Another intriguing detail is the use of the bird and cage symbols from the third game, which could tie it in with that title's world, story, or characters.

It needs to be said these are only rumors at this stage. None of the official parties involved with the development of the game have confirmed or denied these leaks and speculations. Many fans will likely be interested to know whether what's currently going around will come to fruition, though there have been let-downs in the past. Recently, a website teasing BioShock content was not what fans expected, with the words "stay tuned" having apparently been on the site for some time now, and offering no further information at the time of writing.

Praised for its incredible storyline, the first BioShock had a strong horror lean, which was mainly carried over into the sequel. However, Infinite ditched the horror and underwater theme for a more politically-focused and philosophical story in the skies. Which way the next installment in the franchise will go is anyone's guess, but hopefully, fans will get to hear some more details about what could be called BioShock Isolation soon.
