It's been five years since the release of Batman: Arkham Knight, and it's safe to say that fans are ready for a new Batman: Arkham video game. WB Games Montreal, the studio behind Arkham Origins, has been rumored to be working on a new Batman game for years now, and it's finally teasing its new project with some cryptic images posted on its various social media accounts.

WB Games Montreal posted one piece of the image on its Facebook page, another on its Twitter, and the third on its Instagram. Twitter user ArkhamVideos has put the images together to show what the complete picture looks like. It appears to be a police badge of some sort, adorned with an eagle, swords, and a crown. The phrase "Capture the Knight" has been associated with the individual images, which lends credence to the theory that the images are related to a new Batman game.

It's been teased multiple times at this point that the next Batman game will be based on the Court of Owls storyline from the comics. The Court of Owls, for the uninitiated, are known for having deeply-rooted connections in Gotham; they're basically the city's version of the Illuminati, pulling strings from behind the scenes. It's possible that the Court of Owls are using the Gotham City Police Department to try to capture Batman, though that's just speculation at this time.

Unfortunately, there's no additional information on the image's meaning available at this time. However, now that WB Games Montreal seems to be actively teasing its new Batman game on social media, one has to assume that an official reveal is now just a matter of time. But with no major video game events happening any time soon, it's unclear exactly when a reveal of the new Batman game will take place.

It's possible that the new Batman game will be revealed alongside one of the next-generation consoles. Considering the popularity of Batman, it would make sense for Sony and Microsoft to try to get a Batman game to show off alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X respectively, as doing so would draw even more attention than usual.

Alternatively, the new Batman game may simply be announced with a trailer and may not be saved for any big gaming event. Hopefully answers come sooner rather than later so fans can stop speculating about the future of the Batman video game franchise.

A new Batman game is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
