With Arkham Knight launching all the way back in 2015, it seems fans are more than ready to once again step into the armored boots of Batman and wade into the criminal underworld of Gotham City. Fans have known for years that a sequel to the Batman Arkham franchise is coming, with leaks revealing everything from a canceled reboot with Damian Wayne as the lead to the sequel's focus on the villainous Court of Owls, but nothing official has ever materialized.

Rumors seem to be hinting that this won't be for much longer, with several sources claiming that the game was meant to be receiving a major reveal at a Warner Bros. press conference at this year's now-canceled E3 conference. According to one outlet, however, the reveal will still be coming very soon, with GameReactor's Eirik Hyldbakk Furu claiming that he has sources with a lot of information on the upcoming Batman title.

According to Furu, "The plan is apparently still to show us the game within the next couple of months, and I doubt the pandemic and/or Black Lives Matter movement will change that." He goes on to highlight that there's also a reason that Warner Bros. would be unlikely to delay its announcement of the title, with the leaker claiming that "the game is slated to release sooner than you might think." It's an interesting piece of information that aligns with several rumors placing the release of the newest Arkham game in the very near future.

Of course, it's worth remembering to take this leak with a pinch of salt, with even Furu himself stating that, while he definitely trusts his sources, the information in his article is far from confirmed. While it's exciting to hear such positive leaks, it's worth remembering that a lot of video game rumors do wind up being fake, so it's better to remain skeptical until Warner Bros. itself reveals more about the heavily rumored release.

It's hard to know what the game will actually wind up being, as several major rumors have painted a vastly different image of what the next Batman game will be. Some have claimed the title is a significant reboot of the series, others a prequel to the main Arkham trilogy, while a number have claimed that it takes place after Arkham Knight and focuses more heavily on Batman's allies. Until Warner Bros reveal the game, it seems its focus will remain a mystery.
