It's sad to say that the next few months in the gaming industry as uncertain ones, as the coronavirus pandemic has caused everything from the recent The Last of Us 2 delay to the cancellation of E3. There's a good chance that the fallout of the pandemic is felt for even longer than that, but it's certainly taking a toll on all things current. Case in point: the all but officially confirmed new Batman game.

Now, it's worth mentioning that rumors and supposed leaks have revolved around a new Batman game for years now, and there's little reason to take them at face value even now. Warner Bros. was going to be at E3, though, and at the time of its cancellation, a report stated that a new Batman game, a new Harry Potter game, and Rocksteady's new game were all on the menu. E3 2020 would have, as usual, taken place in June 2020.

According to Redditor MrBlum2020, this is still on despite E3's cancellation. There will be a reveal sometime in June, just two months away, or "MAYBE sooner." The coronavirus pandemic is causing a lot of internal delays, perhaps more than the general public can ever be aware of, but if Warner Bros. is still moving forward with Batman, this is a good sign. MrBlum2020 closes by stating that WB has to announced the game by June due to contractual obligations and promises that many will see for themselves "very soon."

What exactly that means or what this entails remains to be seen, but it's worth reiterating that this isn't really a stretch. Many companies who would have panels or presentations at E3 2020 are swapping to a digital format, and it stands to reason that the same goes for WB. This model even lets the company move ahead with it sooner than anticipated, if it so chooses.

All things considered, this is a believable leak regardless of the authenticity of it. To MrBlum2020's credit, he doesn't seem like he's making up anything, as he refused to answer a question on the new Harry Potter game due to a lack of knowledge on it. Many "leakers" would have just made something up, but the only other thing mentioned by the leaker is that Arkham isn't in the title. Either way, here's hoping there's more Batman in the future.

Batman 2020 is reportedly in development.
