A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that the WB Games Montreal Batman game would be a reboot that would kick off a shared DC Games Universe. Now the same person that broke that news has suggested that the new Batman game will potentially feature a massive open world.

According to James Sigfield of Geeks WorldWide, WB Games Montreal was once developing a Damian Wayne Batman game that was scrapped. That game was set to feature a "massive" open world Gotham City. It's unclear if the Batman reboot that WB Games Montreal is working on now will feature that big of an open world, but Sigfield has said that it will "at least be a little bigger" than the open world seen in Batman: Arkham Knight.

It remains to be seen how Batman fans will react to another open world Batman game. Batman: Arkham Knight's open world elements were actually a source of criticism for the game, with some disliking the Batmobile and generic open world missions over the more focused, linear Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City.

Since WB Games Montreal has yet to officially announce its Batman game, fans should still take any information about it with a grain of salt. It's possible that the new Batman game isn't a reboot and doesn't have an open world, but we won't know for certain until an actual reveal happens. In the meantime, Sigfield's earlier reporting points to other potential revelations about the WB Games Montreal Batman game, and it will be interesting to see if they're accurate.

For example, Sigfield has claimed in the past that the new Batman game will have co-op with a playable Batfamily. Specific Batfamily members haven't been named, but it's possible this will include popular characters like Batgirl, Nightwing, and maybe even Robin. Again, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from WB Games Montreal to find out for sure.

Fans have been waiting for proper news on the new Batman game for years now, and it's unclear how much longer they'll have to make due with rumors. Hopefully we'll get answers soon on the new Batman's game open world, its rumored Court of Owls storyline, and more.

Batman is rumored to be in development at WB Games Montreal for unspecified platforms.
