Rumors have persisted for months that the next Assassin's Creed game is Assassin's Creed Ragnarok. Nothing official has been announced, but product lists for the supposed game have reportedly appeared on the Amazon Germany website as well as GameStop Italy. These listings have since been removed and only screenshots remain, so we must caution that it's possible these listings were fake.

In any case, this would be far from the first time a video game leaked on the Amazon Germany site, so it's definitely worth some consideration. The Amazon Germany site lists Assassin's Creed Ragnarok as coming to the PlayStation 4, with Standard, Gold, and Valhalla Editions. The game will also apparently have a Mjolnir Edition of some kind, if the listing leaks are to be believed.

Metro has a screenshot of the supposed Assassin's Creed Ragnarok Amazon listing, but we must still caution that it could be faked. Even though Ubisoft itself has teased an Assassin's Creed game with a Viking setting, it's best to wait for an official announcement. As for when an official reveal of the next Assassin's Creed game could come, that's less clear, but we imagine it will be announced before or during E3 2020 this summer.

Alternatively, it's possible Assassin's Creed Ragnarok will be announced alongside the PS5 or Xbox Series X reveals. It's expected that both Sony and Microsoft will properly unveil their next-generation consoles within the next few months, and the companies will need games to showcase alongside the hardware. The Assassin's Creed franchise is immediately recognizable and has mainstream appeal, so it seems like a safe bet to show off the power of the new consoles.

But before fans get too excited about Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, we must caution that leaks about the game have been proven fake in the past. It's entirely possible that's the case here as well and the next Assassin's Creed game will have a completely different setting. Again, we can't be sure of anything until Ubisoft decides to make an official announcement, so fans will just have to speculate until then.

Luckily, the reveal of the next Assassin's Creed game should be coming sooner rather than later, especially if these listings are accurate.

Assassin's Creed Ragnarok is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
