With the next-gen console shortage hopefully being taken care of this year, console gamers will most likely need a new display if they wish to take advantage of the power the new generation of gaming has to offer. However, TV technology has been known to lag behind PC, but thankfully Acer has a monitor that may suit all gamers, regardless of their platform.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X offers the power to output Ultra High Definition, VRR, up to 120 fps, and 4-8k resolution from their use of HDMI 2.1 cables. The technology is rather new, as the PS5 and Series X were looking to future-proof themselves at least until the potential release of mid-life upgraded versions. With such new technology, most televisions aren't equipped with the HDMI 2.1 hook-up, so it's inevitable that PC display manufacturers would swoop in to save the day.

Acer's gaming monitor lineup is nothing new, currently offering twenty-six gaming monitors, but none of them offer HMDI 2.1 support. Acer recently announced three new monitors releasing in March of this year that offer incredibly refresh rates and 4K gaming. Only one of the three monitors, the Nitro XV282K KV, is specifically being marketed towards PC and console gamers with the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 support.

Gaming monitors typically have 2.0's or lower quality HDMI, which can still produce 4K content, but it requires some heavy pushing. With the major increase in bandwidth in 2.1, content is easily pushed through the cord and gives a much smoother frame rate for higher resolutions, which will come in handy when playing high-resolution game modes. While 4K might be what gamers strive for at the moment, this new HDMI technology can produce visuals up to 10K resolution. This also allows for Variable Refresh Rate, which is a crucial newer technology allowing the monitor to change refresh rates with the game's output to make sure screen-tearing is a thing of the past.

New Acer Monitors together

With such a powerful HDMI connection, gamers would think it'd be a rather expensive monitor, and they would  be correct. However, coming in at $900, the 28-inch Nitro XV282K KV is the cheapest of Acer's three new models. The Predator XB273U 27-inch monitor with 275 Hz refresh rate will be listing for $1,100, while the Predator XB323QK NV 31.5-inch monitor with 144 Hz will be listing for $1,200.

While the new Predator monitors offer ridiculous refresh rates, 4K graphics, and large fancy-looking displays, only the Nitro XV282K KV will offer the powerful 2.1 HDMI that allows the most out of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. All three monitors will release later this year in March.
