Netflix and Headspace announce they have partnered to release three original shows for the streaming service that will launch in 2021. The first of these projects will be Headspace Guide to Meditation, and Netflix has debuted the first official preview for the series ahead of its New Year's Day premiere.

Vox Media Studios and Headspace Studios will produce all three projects with a team of executive producers that includes Chad Mumm, Mark W. Olsen, Chris Grosso, Sam Rogoway, Morgan Selzer, and Headspace co-founder Andy Puddicombe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Headspace Guide to Meditation will be followed by Headspace Guide to Sleep and an untitled interactive experience later in 2021.

Per Netflix's official description of the series, Headspace Guide to Sleep will explore the foundation of meditation and how it can help people be more present and less distracted. Puddicombe, a former Buddhist monk, will narrate Headspace Guide to Sleep as "playful animations and soothing music" accompany his voice. "When was the last time that you did nothing? And by nothing, I really mean nothing," asks Puddicombe at the beginning of the trailer for the series released yesterday. "The best way of experiencing mediation is to actually do it, not to just talk about it."

Each 20-minute episode of Headspace Guide to Meditation will focus on a different benefit of meditation, from managing stress to embracing gratitude. Puddicombe will begin each entry by teaching viewers basic approaches and techniques of the practice before concluding the session with a guided meditation. The series will be subtitled and dubbed in 30 languages.

Netflix's venture into wellness and self-care is not the only new project audiences can expect from the service early in the new year. The company also recently debuted a trailer for a docuseries in which Nicolas Cage will explore the history of curse words.

These calming and informative projects from Netflix may be what's needed for audiences before the third season of Cobra Kai debuts. If the recently released trailer is any indication, the Karate Kid sequel series may be considerably more stress-inducing.

Headspace Guide to Meditation will release on Netflix starting January 1, 2021.
