Nintendo had a pretty amazing 2017 and the Switch was one of the year's biggest success stories. The console, and its lineup of A-list games, delivered in a way and made the little machine both a commercial and critical success. Although it's off to a great start, the portable Nintendo console is still missing a few surprising features.

The Nintendo Switch is designed to be the perfect gaming machine for on-the-go consumers. The device's ability to transform from home console to portable tool should make it the easy choice for gaming while traveling. Unfortunately, the machine is still missing some key entertainment apps that many travelers consider essential. At the top of that list is Netflix and it sounds like that won't be changing anytime soon.

Nintendo hasn't released an official statement about when the Switch will add a Netflix app anytime recently, but that hasn't stopped fans from constantly asking both companies on Twitter. Netflix recently cracked and offered a small update. Here is the company's response:

The response from Netflix customer support is appreciated, but definitely disappointing. Netflix is easily one of the most popular streaming service in the U.S., so it's very surprising that Nintendo wouldn't be more rushed to add support for the service.

Although Netflix doesn't appear to be on the horizon, the Switch does now offer a Hulu app. That's definitely a step in the right direction to making the Switch an all-in-one entertainment device. We'll stay on the hunt for updates about a Netflix app, so check back for new intel.

The Nintendo Switch is available now.
