The terrifying new Fear Street Netflix film trilogy debuted with its first film, Fear Street Part One: 1994 on July 2nd. Filled with slasher fun and an iconic 90s soundtrack, the first film delivered a tale of pure evil. With the first film ending on an uncertain cliffhanger, the second film Fear Street Part Two: 1978, will dive more into the origin of the horror experienced in the first film. Netflix released a trailer for Part Two, teasing its upcoming premiere on July 9th.

The trailer begins in the realm of the first film, with a cryptic Twin Peaks-esque note left on the floor cursing "It's happening again." The trailer then focuses on the teenage girl Deena, the main character from the first film, who is desperately trying to save her possessed girlfriend. Deena at the end of the first film is on the phone with a woman who "survived" or rather has been continually living through the curse reborn in 1994. A similar event happened at a summer camp in 1978, where the woman was a camper and experienced the witch's ongoing wrath firsthand.

The witch's curse has always been a part of the history of the town, Shadyside. The curse is the cause of each horrific event in the film series and also R.L. Stine's classic teen novel series. The trailer dives into Camp Nightwing, on an unfortunate night in 1978 when a masked axe murder runs rampant.

The film is filled with as much 70s slasher nostalgia as Part One was filled with 90s nostalgia. Under the cover of darkness forbidden romance, hair curled and teased to the heavens, and a story reminiscent of Friday the 13th, the trailer comes closer to the reality of the cursed town.

The second film in the trilogy offers a vastly different cast and some younger versions of characters from the first films. Some of the cast includes Gillian Jacobs (Community), Matthew Zuk (Greyhound), and Sadie Sink (Stranger Things). The third installment of the trilogy, Fear Street Part Three: 1666 will dive even deeper back in time, right to the origin of the witch and the first person she possessed. Strange things are happening in the town on Shadyside, will the witch's curse ever be broken?

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 will be available on Netflix July 9th and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 streams on July 16th.
