Netflix have struck a long term deal with Broke and Bones, the new production company headed up by Black Mirror creators Annabel Jones and Charlie Brooker. Netflix's deal will last several years and the first project to come from this is expected to be announced soon.

The deal with Broke and Bones means that Netflix will fund series development and production with an option to buy the company outright at the end of the first term. Broke and Bones is a new company focusing on developing new comedy, drama and interactive projects in the style of Black Mirror's 2018 film Bandersnatch.

Annabel Jones and Charlie Brooker recently left their previous company, House of Tomorrow, to form Broke and Bones. However the Black Mirror IP still remains with House of Tomorrow, which means that Brooker and Jones can't produce any more episodes of the dark sci-fi anthology unless an agreement is made.

Best known for Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker started as a cartoonist and games journalist writing for PC Zone magazine and made his name online with the spoof TV listing website TVGoHome. Working with satirist Chris Morris, Brooker created and wrote cult sitcom Nathan Barley, which featured Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch in an early role. 2008 saw the release of Dead Set, Brooker's zombie drama set against a backdrop of a Big Brother-style show, recently remade in Brazil as Reality Z. Black Mirror, which would become Brooker's biggest success, was originally broadcast by the U.K.'s Channel 4 in 2011 before making the leap to Netflix in 2015.

Joining Brooker and Jones at Broke and Bones are Jon Petrie, previously the comedy commissioner at Channel 4, appropriately as head of comedy. Russell McLean, producer of Bandersnatch, will focus on interactive projects as a producer. Jo Kay joins head of production, drama and comedy and Holly Sait is head of production for formatted comedy.

Black Mirror is available to stream on Netflix.
