Netflix continues to demonstrate an impressive commitment to the Resident Evil IP, having just announced a second show on top of their previous teasers. While Netflix is also in the process of creating a live-action Resident Evil show for their platform, they have also just revealed a trailer for yet another Resident Evil project. This one, however, is an animated show that will be released under the title Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

An interesting name to be sure, and it leaves a lot to imagination. The teaser trailer isn't giving much away either, featuring a spooky house of some sort as well as a confirmation that zombies are involved; two things that audiences could have probably assumed already. There is one big reveal, though: the show seems to be focused on recurring series' protagonists Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy, both of whom pretty closely resemble their Resident Evil 2 remake designs. The teaser may be indicating that the show will be following both characters on separate stories that eventually converge, given they both appear to be in different locations, but that's merely speculation.

Netflix's press website is also fairly vague: “by adding suspense into dynamic action scenes, this series will reveal a Resident Evil world unlike anything seen before.” It's a sentence that doesn't really seem to mean much of anything. Not much is known about the live-action show either, for that matter, with just a basic plot description indicating that it will follow the "Wesker Twins" in a pre- and post-zombie infected New Raccoon City.

Interestingly, this new series seems to be animated in the same style as modern day Resident Evil cutscenes. The show is reportedly a collaboration between Netflix and Capcom, with Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who has made several of the games, overseeing the whole production. This could potentially indicate that Capcom is interested in having a series that ties into the games a little bit more closely, which would also explain the use of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, as opposed to creating original characters. Either way it looks like Resident Evil fans have a lot to look forward to over the next couple years.
