New Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent Trailer

I'm a sucker for strange, offbeat games. Recently, I've been playing a lot of Professor Layton And The Diabolical Box, so when I saw the trailer for the forthcoming Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent, needless to say, I got rather excited.

Coming from TellTale Games, the company behind the Sam & Max series and the recently announced episodic Jurassic Park, it's no surprise that there will be a heavy emphasis on puzzle-solving, and extremely difficult puzzle-solving at that. Take a look at the brand new trailer below to get a look at more of the story along with a few glimpses of gameplay.

The first thing that you should notice upon viewing the trailer is the beautiful, hand-drawn art style. Too many games these days are relying on hyper-realistic CGI, when a simple art style can be just as effective. Of course, this varies from game to game.

A game can't survive on graphics alone though, and it seems that Puzzle Agent has an equally offbeat story to complement the visuals. The story focuses on Nelson Tether of the FBI's Puzzle Investigation Division as he travels to Scoggins, Minnesota following the mysterious closure of the local eraser factory. Needless to say, strange things begin happening and it's up to Nelson to figure it all out.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm quite the fan of the Professor Layton series, so this game has definitely tickled my fancy. While I enjoyed the storytelling in the Professor Layton games, I'm really interested in this more mature looking story, plus, as I said, I'm a sucker for the offbeat, so I can't wait to see how it all plays out. As long as they can craft some intriguing, painfully difficult puzzles, that alone is enough to get my attention.

How do you feel about this unique art style? Does this sort of game appeal to you?

Coming for PC, Mac, WiiWare, iPhone, and iPad, Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent is set to release sometime this June.
