Need for Speed Unbound developer Criterion Games showcases new decals, rims, body changes, and more in the upcoming street racing title. This doesn't come as a surprise as Need for Speed Unbound has pushed its visuals above all else, showing few glimpses of gameplay.

Of course, this is probably beneficial for Need for Speed Unbound. There are plenty of gameplay options in street racing titles, but at the end of the day, every game mode equates to "vehicle has to make it from A to B." So, by focusing on visuals and customization, Need for Speed Unbound is carving out its own identity within the franchise.

Need for Speed Unbound has already shown its flashy driving effects, like screen icons that appear when drifting, hitting the boost, and so on. But it also recently gave a look at its variety of body options, and it's truly impressive. In the series of clips below, players can see legendary customs that effectively rebuild an entire vehicle, a variety of rims that are out there (there's a pizza) and unique among Need for Speed games, and a granular approach to placing decals and adding/layering designs on a vehicle. The latter will no doubt go a long way for its customization, but the final clip may just be a game-changer.

In Need for Speed Unbound, players are able to delete entire panels from their vehicles, adding a more rugged look to some vehicles. It seems these can still be stylized, but removing panels ensures players have complete granular control over their vehicle's appearance. The social media account was also asked for an update regarding body kits and widebody options, with it teasing the question with a "shh" emoji. Overall, it's clear that Criterion Games is intending to leave an impression with Need for Speed Unbound's focus on style and customization, and that could prove to be a huge boon for the game.

Although Need for Speed Unbound was revealed late, so it would seem, the constant updates ahead of its December 2 release date have made its marketing cycle more lively than some. Apparently, this is something EA is trying with multiple franchises: shorter, but more dense, marketing cycles. For example, it seems that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases in March, but EA doesn't intend to market it heavily until December. Given the variety of games out there that are years away, this is a breath of fresh air all things considered.

Need for Speed Unbound releases on December 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
