No one is safe from Michael Bay. From The Rock to Armageddon, Bad Boys I & II, and the Transformers movies, the “Bayhem” has been non-stop. What else could he possibly tackle? The superstar director is lending his talents to the video game industry, where his keen eye for high-intensity, adrenaline-pumping action will be seen in the next television commercial for Electronic Arts’ Need For Speed The Run.
Starting today, fans of Need For Speed The Run can visit the game’s official Facebook page to unlock this one-of-a-kind trailer, which features in-game footage and the kind of heart-stopping action that only Bay himself could visualize. The director played the game in order to figure out its mechanics, and he also spoke with the creative team to get a feel for the franchise itself.
Bay is not unfamiliar with the art of advertising and commercial development as he has directed numerous ads, most recently for Victoria’s Secret — and there were plenty of explosions and fast cuts in that, as well.
Jason DeLong, Executive Producer for Need for Speed The Run spoke about working with Bay:
“Working with Michael and his company, The Institute, was such an honor. He’s known for delivering exhilarating, over-the-top, action — exactly what players are looking forward to experiencing in Need for Speed The Run. We knew from the moment we met with Michael that he was the perfect person to bring our game to life for gamers seeking non-stop action…I encourage everyone to visit our Facebook page and help get the commercial unlocked for the entire world to see!”
Bay’s commercial is sure to be substantially different from these two trailers for The Run. For another look at the game, check out the trailer announcing The Run’s cast (featuring Christina Hendricks), or download the demo from Xbox Live and PSN.
The Run is already one of Nielson’s Top 20 Games to Watch, so expect this commercial from Michael Bay to amp up the excitement even more. With the game’s release date coming up quickly, hopefully the ad will be unlocked soon.
Need for Speed The Run releases November 18, 2011, for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS, and PC.
