'Need for Speed Hot Pursuit' Teaser Trailer Involves 'The Stig' and 'Roll Deep'

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Teaser Trailer

With just a week to go until its release, anticipation is building rapidly for Criterion's forthcoming Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Here at Game Rant, we were lucky enough to see the game at a preview event two weeks ago, where we interviewed Patrick Söderlund and also played the game for our hands-on preview. The one thing we had to keep quiet about, however, was the filming of three live-action teaser trailers featuring Top Gear's 'The Stig' (otherwise known as Ben Collins) and grime band 'Roll Deep'.

Viewable below, the teasers do not, unfortunately, include gameplay footage from Hot Pursuit. Nonetheless, they do a bona fide job of capturing the boyish charm that the game encapsulates. Particularly orgasmic for car-enthusiasts, the final teaser shows a tense chase sequence between a Lamborghini Murciélago and a Porsche 9 11, as Ben Collins attempts to evade the Seacrest County Police Department (played by Roll Deep).

Teaser #1 - The Hot Pursuit

The first teaser focuses mostly on the playful banter pre-event. Collins and the Deep crew are preparing for their hot pursuit later on, and the viewer gets to see the beautiful British weather in its full glory.

Teaser #2 - Meet the Cars

The second teaser is probably my favorite of the three. A mix between live-action driving and previous Hot Pursuit trailers, it captures a real sense of speed and ridiculous driving.

Teaser #3 - Power Struggle

The final teaser is a culmination of the two before it, and shows the full Cop/Racer chase. Adopting an augmented-reality style of filming, you see the Roll Deep Cops dropping spike strips and using EMPs in an attempt to take down Ben Collins. Although it ends with a rather unsatisfying conclusion -- I'd have preferred an explosion of sorts, or some other bombastic ending -- the teaser truly does capture a sense of fun, playfulness and speed, whilst also coaxing a raw, animalistic side to the surface... one that you hide deep within you, for fear of appearing rude in polite company.

When all is said and done, I'm excited for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Even when covering the initial demo, the game has stood out as one to keep an eye on, and while the teasers above are ridiculous and don't really make me want the game any more than I already did, they seem like harmless fun -- much like the game itself.

What did you think of the teasers? Did you like 'Team', the Hot Pursuit Official Song playing in the background? Will you be picking up Need for Speed Hot Pursuit at launch? Let us know in the comments below.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit will be racing its way onto Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii on November 16, 2010.
