Developer Ghost Games announced today that the brand new Need for Speed Heat will release on November 8th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Ghost Games shared a few of the features players can expect and said that they will show gameplay at Gamescom's opening night on August 19th.

A few days ago, EA put up a countdown timer to get Need for Speed fans excited about the reveal. Now, the company has released the first details about the upcoming title in the long-running street racing franchise.

As predicted by a recent leak, the game will be called Need for Speed Heat. It will feature an open world full of street racing and cop chasing. Ghost Games promised an immersive narrative that will take players all over the fictional Palm City in order to compete for street racing fame.

The new Need for Speed will feature a combination of legally sanctioned daytime races and illegal night races. Each race type will allow players to earn stats and upgrades. In the daytime races, which are called Speedhunters Showdown, players will earn Bank to purchase new vehicles and upgrades to customize their cars. The underground night races will add a bit more danger in the mix. Cops will patrol the streets in order to take racers down. During the night, Racers can build their Rep in the city.

Ghost Games creative director says the game will feature much more customization that past games in the franchise. He says they want to give players a lot of options that will make them unique through vehicle and character customization.

The announcement included details about the different versions of the game that fans can pre-order. Fans that pre-order the standard edition will get a K.S. Edition styled Mitsubishi X. Fans who pre-order the deluxe edition will receive three K.S. Edition cars: a BMW i8 Coupe, a Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, and a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. Deluxe edition owners will also receive access to exclusive clothing options and increased earnings of in-game Bank and Rep. No word yet on if the new game will follow EA's other games and forego a season pass.

As part of a loyalty program, Ghost Games is offering fans who own Need for Speed Payback a 10% discount if they pre-order Heat from inside the game. Furthermore, if players buy the game on EA Access or Origin, they can get access to a trial version on PC on November 5th that will offer ten hours of introductory gameplay. Origin Access Premier subscribers will received the full game on PC on Novemeber 5th.

Need for Speed Heat will be available November 8th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
