Ever since its debut in 1999, the NBA 2K franchise has been the premiere basketball video game for all consoles. They haven’t had any competition in over a decade and they have been releasing quality games every fall. The game is rather repetitive with its mechanics and physics, but there are always new features implemented in the new games to spice things up.

The franchise's most recent entry, NBA 2K20, added many new features while also bringing back some beloved ones from previous games but for one reason or another, players seem to have overlooked these. From controls that help improve shooting accuracy to more MyPlayer custom options than ever before, a lot has been added to the typical NBA 2K formula to make 2K20 feel a lot different when compared to its predecessors. So without further delay, here are 10 things players never knew they could do in NBA 2K20.

10 Turning The Shot Meter Off Helps You Make More Shots

NBA 2K20 put a large emphasis on outside shooting and it's one of the most important aspects of the game. Driving inside and kicking it out to the open man on the 3-point line is a good strategy but at times the best shooters will miss wide open shots even with a perfect release.

Pause the game, enter the settings menu, and go to controller settings to switch the shot meter off. This will give players a boost on perfect releases. It takes some time to get used to but once players get the timing down, they'll be splashing threes all game long.

2K has all 30 current NBA teams available to play with and for many years classic teams have been in the game as well. The amount of classic teams has increased and legendary squads such as the 13-14 San Antonio Spurs and the 15-16 Cleveland Cavaliers have been added as well. Decade teams going as far back to the '60s all the way to the modern era are in the game too.

But the most important rosters are the all-time squads for each team. The greatest stating five throughout every franchises history makes games very competitive and entertaining against online opponents..

Freelancing every possession and just winging it can be successful a lot of the time, but there are occasions when players may want to run some plays. Calling plays make the game feel more realistic and helps other teammates get open around the court.

In the setting menu, players can view all of the teams plays and favorite them so that they can hotkey them to make them easier to access as soon as need be. This is much easier than scrolling through the play menus with the shot clock still running during possessions.

At different times throughout the day, players will have to walk to the trivia icon and once the clock hits the zero the games begin.

NBA 2K games have always given star players their very own distinct jump shots, dunks and layup packages. But in NBA 2k20, players will have unique dribble moves that only they can use, similar to the real game.

This will make crossovers with Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Stephen Curry much more entertaining to use in game. The game has also added a lot of new running animations to imitate how players move in real life to add a more realistic feel.

One of the biggest new features that NBA 2K20 has added are WNBA teams, which is a first for the franchise. All twelve WNBA teams are included in the game and they can be used online as well. The option to add signature moves from the star WNBA players can also be equipped to NBA players.

Unfortunately as of this writing, players cannot create their very own WNBA players. Hopefully, the option to do so will be added in the future.

Sometimes in 2k, passing can be a pain, especially when it's needed the most in clutch moments. Many players aren't aware that they can change the settings of how open the teammates they pass to are. If you go to controller settings and adjust the pass target openness to 98 and set the pass target distance and direction both to 1 you will pass to the player with the most space every single time.

If those numbers aren't up to par, they can be adjusted according to a player's preferences. This is a great way to space the floor and never have to worry about making the wrong play.
