Everybody knows the feeling of logging on to play a little bit of MyTeam in NBA 2K22, ready for an exciting competition, and then seeing an opponent's Amethyst player taking the floor. It's harrowing. The game plan changes from "do well and have fun" to "what strategy can stop a beast like this?"
Many Amethyst cards don't have legendary badges, which dials down their ability to strike fear into opponents. But the ones on this list not only have at least one legendary badge apiece, but they also have the attributes and physical characteristics that demand respect for any player of NBA 2K22.
Updated on June 25th, 2022 by Hodey Johns: The lower nineties are something of a sweet spot for three-to-play MyTeam gamers. With careful choices, these cards are capable of defeating a team decked out in Dark Matter. But because this list hadn't been updated since the game was released, there needed to be a complete overhaul with all of the new and exciting cards. In addition to redoing this list, each section has been outfitted with a chart for players to see some basic statistics on the player. This should help gamers decide if the card works well with their lineup or not.

Small forwards have a huge list of chores in basketball today. They're expected to defend the best players in the lead, be strong, be athletic, be fast, pass well, score well, the list is massive. Amethyst cards often don't have the kind of strength to churn out a well-rounded player but Kenny Walker is a notable exception, solid at every part of the game. He'd rather finish at the rim than shoot, but that's about his only downside.

Over the last two years, the NBA statisticians have begun to calculate that passing from the interior is a large part of a team's success. Ben Simmons is tremendously talented at both defense and playmaking, a rare combination that can destroy foes that leave a man open on the arc.

The name of the game for veterans of the series is driving to the rim and passing if the window closes for the point guard. With three legendary badges in finishing, one in playmaking, and gold in many of the other areas, Dennis Smith Jr. asserts himself at carrying out the game's most popular strategy.
7 Toni Kukoc

Players are justifiably skewed toward favoring more legendary badges over any of the others, but with a whopping 52 gold badges, some gamers may have Toni Kukoc higher up on this list. It's easier to list the badges he doesn't have than the ones he does. His best aspects are shooting and passing, a nifty combination for a point guard, but he's also a rock in all other facets.
6 Rudy Gobert

To no one's surprise at all, Rudy Gobert has a lot to be desired on offense but absolutely ruins opponents with his defense. He's good for a few blocks in every game, more than enough to compensate for his middling numbers on the other end of the court. All five of his legendary badges deal with defense and rebounding, so prepare for some occasional second chance points too.
5 Klay Thompson
Position |
SG/SF |
Offensive Rating |
90 |
Defensive Rating |

Gold Badges |

Silver Badges |

There are a few perfect locations for a hot, new shooting guard but not on the Warriors. Thompson has this spot locked up thanks to his incredible defense and his unreal shooting ability. This card focuses on the latter of those skills, dropping all five legendary badges into shooting the ball. His healthy supply of gold badges assures gamers that he's moderately strong at every other aspect of his game, too.
4 Zach LaVine
Position |
SG/SF |
Offensive Rating |
94 |
Defensive Rating |
83 |
Legendary Badges |
6 |
Gold Badges |

Silver Badges |

Bronze Badges |

Because the game's most superior point guards like to make a name for themselves by shooting three-pointers, Zach LaVine becomes a great counterbalance by driving in hard for the shooting guard spot. Five of his six legendary badges are in finishing, so he's more than capable of doing this with regularity, especially against shooting guards that try to stay comfortable on the outside.
3 Stacey Augmon
Position |
SG/SF |
Offensive Rating |
94 |
Defensive Rating |
96 |
Legendary Badges |

Gold Badges |

Silver Badges |

As the league grows up, it's becoming clear that a shooting guard needs some of the best defensive/rebounding badges around to stop other shooting guards. Michael Jordan and Klay Thompson have proved this. Stacey Augmon is another great example. He's also uniquely great at driving toward the hoop, so don't be afraid to get him on the interior for offense.
2 Brandon Clarke
Position |
PF/SF |
Offensive Rating |
86 |
Defensive Rating |

Legendary Badges |

Gold Badges |

Silver Badges |

For a power forward to dunk on the league's best centers, he has to be special at finishing. That's exactly what Brandon Clarke is with four legendary badges that help him score in the paint. And yet, somehow, it's his defense that puts the other team in their place, with a perfect 99 rating in that area.
1 Vinny Del Negro
Position |
SG/PG |
Offensive Rating |
92 |
Defensive Rating |

Legendary Badges |

Gold Badges |

Silver Badges |

Bronze Badges |

Vinny Del Negro has some of the best finishing badges in the game and yet that's his worst category. This player has a nice and even distribution of badges across all categories, including two legendary badges in shooting, playmaking, and defense. There is not much more that can be asked by a shooting guard. The sheer quantity of gold badges assures that he's competent in every aspect of the game.
